killswitch for a guitar

I think i need to run the pickup ground to the output jack ground, and the pickup lead to a on/off switch, then to the output jack positive? I'm using a single humbucker, NO volume and No tone. I just want to run a pretty much straight signal. I know that K.K. Downing uses this method live, but I can find any info on the web. I've done this before, but its been a while. Thanks for the help. If you wire it that way and switch it off, it would be like having a guitar cable plugged into your amp, but not into a guitar.

The best way to do this is ground the signal: Wire the pickup directly to the output jack (hot to + and gnd-gnd) and put the kill switch in parallel with the pickup, between the hot and ground leads. When the switch is open, you have the full signal to the output and when you close the switch, the input to your preamp is grounded for maximum noise cut.

Cool thanks everyone, except bad daze!! I cant even lift my rig let alone throw it. I'll try that. I had my pickup wired directly to the output jack but the only problem was is that it was wide open all the time, like my old ladies' bitching mouth. Needed some control.

P.S. I dont beat her, I respect her with my fist! LOL Kidding!
