I forgot to add the great Toy Caldwell and Rory Gallagher.

And how could I forget, Roy Buchanan and Danny Gatton.

If you could revive a dead musician

Post by joltinjeff »

I was fortunate enough to see one of Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy's last shows in Nuremberg West Germany. What a great show. The Rodeo Song, Boys are Back in Town and other great songs are among my all time favorites.
Unfortunately, you could tell the band was having problems when Phil looked over at Scott Goram who was retuning his guitar looked at him and asked him very sarcastically, "Are you ready?"
A great band to be sure and Phil was one of the best. Randy Rhoads would have been great to see.
I also was in Hershey Arena for one the last concerts that Eric Carr of Kiss played.

Out of the park, buddy! My wife had to ask me what the eff I was laughing so hard at!

For me, it'd be Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, J.S. Bach and W.A. Mozart, Hank Williams, def Phil Lynott, Rhett Forrester, Duane Allman, SRV, Randy Rhoades, Sonny Boy II, Bill Monroe and Jimmy Martin, Conway Twitty, Faron Young, Howlin' Wolf, Carter Stanley... jeez, there are so many who could put to rest the homogenized tasteless pablum we get force-fed now.--->JMS

A number of years ago, he was shot to death trying to stop a mugging. He had a fantastic voice for old-school metal, no falsetto preening, just raw power and grit. His work with Riot and Jack Starr spent countless hours in my cassette deck.--->JMS

I will echo Songsmith with another front man from the tremendously under-rated, Brooklyn-based RIOT....their original singer Guy Speranza.....let's not forget FZ, the master composer....as well as Botteicher's choice, Wallack on lead guitar....Jeff is a local immortal
