Hey, before I was a guitar player, I was a drummer, and before that, I was a bass player. (Is that evolution or de-evolution?)Only a guitar player would say something like that - ha ha ha! So much for a theory
Drummers. 1 rack tom, 2, or more?

I like to watch Rik try to play my kit. It's like fat guy in a little coat. I'm a small guy and play real tight setup and Rik is like 6'10"or something like that. Good stuff! I did convert him from a 5 piece to a four tho!
Here is my setup i just can't seem to break away from this layout i always come back to it. I wanna add a high tom but not sure where to put it i wanna keep everything where its at.

Rob,
I would love to hang with you as well and share some insight with each other about drums. You have some pretty impressive chops that I've seen on youtube. I'm sure I could learn a thing or two. I'm more of a solid, groove guy and a tuning fanatic, really into getting drums to sound phenomenal, so maybe we could talk some about that. Nightcrawler Steve has a beautiful set of Odery drums that just sound amazing after we tweaked them up. How about that 14" floor tom Steve? Unbelievable.
Steve my brother! I didn't get the dubs yet, but that will be my configuration when I do, 1 up and 1 down. I'll post pics as soon as I can. I should have them next week, hopefully in time for the .38 special show. The 12x9 tom is the VLT shell, and the 16x14 tom and 22x18 kick drum are the X shells. They sound pretty awesome live, and I can't wait to get my hands on them and tweak them up for all they're worth. They should kill. Thanks again for the chicken and kind words. It was a blast hangin' with you and I'm hoping we can get together again here real soon. I'm moving to Tyrone for a bit, so I'm even closer. Talk to you soon and Rob, PM me if you have some time to hang

Maybe us three can get together sometime in the near future. I have room at my new place to set up 2 kits, but not as much as the old place. I havent seen Rob in forever.CCdrums wrote:Rob,

Yeah, no doubt man, that 14" floor is thunder from the gods

That looks like a fun setup, Todd. I really like how you integrate the e-kit in with the acoustic. Id like to do that myself one of these days. My DW setup is very similar to yours.Skate Toad wrote:Here is my setup i just can't seem to break away from this layout i always come back to it. Here is the Odery kit Clint tweaked. Its a blast to play.....Im a cymbal whore. Thats maybe half of my cymbal collection.

You've gotta see those Oderys to appreciate them. Prettiest kit I ever saw in person and they sound just as good as they look. Awesome. Getting together with you guys would be great! I'm in, just say the word. I'll bring up the new kit and you guys can A/B them to see the different sonic qualities with these new shells. Rob, if you haven't seen Steve's kit, you gotta check it out. Keep me posted.

You guys are probably gonna laugh, but I have a standard Tama Rockstar 5 piece kit with deep toms. I also use a Pearl ICON rack (which I love).
I like to have my 2 up toms on the rack, but due to the deepness of the toms, the playing angle is critical. If I don't set them just right, they will hit the bass drum. I have two mini-timbales above the mounted toms. My floor tom is a standard 16" with the heads just tight enough so they don't fall off. Man, does it POUND!!
I also have an Auxilliary percussion rack with 4 cowbells, pearl clave block, vibraslap, and meinl pro finger cymbals. I am also using the Drum Tech DTS tuning system on both sides of the mounted toms, and soon on the snare batter head. I am also blessed with an excellent sound engineer (Ryan Lantzy) who takes great pains to make sure the drums sound great. How's that for some toys!!

I'm moving right up behind the Tyrone football field where the high school plays their games. I have space for my drums to be set up and should be moving in the next week or two. I'll keep you posted.RobTheDrummer wrote:Hey Clint, where are you moving to? I live in Tipton, pretty damn close to Tyrone. It would be awesome to hang!
Anyway, the 27th is good! Any other takers? And where?

Garsh darn... As much as I like my pearl ICON rack, I would gladly trade up for those 2 pearls, providing she would hold my tom toms (and my stick). DAMN, those are SWEET!!!lonewolf wrote:All good racks come in pairs:

I'd love to meet all you guys and discuss drums here sometime! I've watched Rob Bonsell on the Youtube videos and ripped off some sweet Linear patterns and triplet patterns!
Id like to watch some more of you guys play! Not sure yet if im good for the 27th yet?
What do you guys normally bring to the get togethers? Pretty much anything?
