I opened for a Pop/Top 40 band about a year ago who had a guitarist using a Line 6 Flextone. It really sounded good for what he was doing. IME, the Line 6 modeling stuff sounds good for cleans and lower gain stuff. Once you start trying to get a high-gain, super saturated sound, it starts to sound really canned and flubby to my ears.

That's a Peavey 5150, currently sold by Peavey under a different name as the 6505. An excellent amp, and easy to find used too.

Dimmu Borgir? I think they use Engl. Terry at Guitars 'n Stuff in Vintondale (by Ebensburg) is an Engl dealer.

I don't have a clue what the part on the bottom named Reflektor is. A reverb? The bit on top is a 5150 head. There's one over in the For Sale section: http://rockpage.net/phpbb2/topic36598.html

True. ...You'll find plenty of reasons to add stuff as ya go along... Don't ruin that "joy"/addiction without giving it a proper time to play out.

Yep. That's the 6505 Plus (aka the 5150 II) which has a few extra features. They still sell the classic 6505 too. There's also the EVH 5150 III which has three channels and isn't made by Peavey.

This thing is unbelieveable. channel 4 has more gain on 3 than most amps full blown. The clean sound is awesome, but because it ohly has 36 watts, it tends to break up a little at higher volumes. The built in effects are top notch and you can use midi to switch everything.

Ive been using a Fender Mustang IV amp for about 3 years now..

Ive always tried to be a minimalist...less stuff, less problems...kinda thing..(Well...not always...in the beginning I was a Bring it all and blow them out the doors...but being 37...GEAR IS HEAVY....lol and my ears are still ringing from the Metal days...lol)

For what its worth, its all I need to get buy normal venues around the area. Its Fully Programmable, with a 4 button foot switch you can adjust to what ever your doing. It eliminates all the pedals you need to bring, along with a pretty solid sound.
The open compartment in the back of the amp houses my wireless and a HumDebugger (For those shows where when the furnace kicks on...your amp cries kinda thing). So its all together...no extra plugs... All I do is plug in my guitar and 1 outlet for power, and Im ready.
Ive gone digital...yea...I leave my tube amps at home, cant beat a tube sound...but....GEAR IS HEAVY and I love showing up at a gig, and in 3 min.(Tuning guitars included) Im ready.
