Is "Polarization" Dividing Our ........?

Post by Hawk »

Is Polarization dividing _______________ ? Fill in the blank.

Our Country ?
Why has everyone become so UNcompromising ?
Stick to your point of view and give no quarter ?
Spin endlessly in order to defend your political persuasion ?
What happened to finding common ground ?

What happened to compromise ?

Drummers ?
Yeah it sounds stupid. But just using it as an example. I get on drummer forums. There are guys who will defend to the death that the only thing that matters is how fast you can play and will not consider opinions that the groove is essential. I've seen arguments go on for pages about this simple topic.

Rockpage ?
"I think RP should be like this and can't understand anyone who disagrees and I will argue endlessly until I get my way."
Perhaps exaggerated, but there is occasionally a lack of compromise on Rockpage threads.

Will Polarization solve anything or do we need a new era of compromise - in all things ? Opinions ?

"It's not that we are Bipolar...we are POLAR...period.." Robby Arista
That is what makes us all unique. We are in every direction it seems.
I hate all of the "Spiritual Retards" though.
I have been personally(that's why I stopped getting on) slammed on here for years and we will all be slammed in this world no matter what. Usually by a coward that wouldn't say it to your face and that has nothing going...anger is inside those poor souls.
Government is the same everywhere......politics like the garbage that happens right here and on stage. Even behind the scenes and noone heard or saw it.
"Viva la crap"...that's mine too...Race to the POLARITY....AND THE POLLS??...OR POOLS???
Peace

I don't see it as always being this way. I'm old though.

I remember Ronald Reagan and Tip O'Neil could argue all day, then go have a drink and a few laughs later.

Now, with the "cowboy mentality" , that doesn't happen at all. It seems one might be perceived as a wimp if he gives in or compromises.

Runaway bloated government has ruined this country. Why should I compromise with someone who wants more government? And remember more government means taking money from my wallet. So this is personal cause I work long and hard for my money.

But you only have two choices to vote for. Ron Paul has no chance, never did. Does this mean you aren't going to vote ?

McCain will be more of Bush. Bush senior, Bush Junior and Reagan have been the three worst presidents for increasing the deficit. Is your wish to continue this strategy ?

Compromise can be an inroad to incremental ism. That's the ONLY chance Libertatians have. Why go on a path that will ultimately lead to - nothing accomplished ?

I guess the bottom line to this thread is ........

Why does it have to be all or nothing ? And nothing in between ? No matter what the subject.

It is all a lost cause. We can only wish that Man was better than we are.
Different names and faces with the same Ideas...tell the masses what they want to hear and use the position to line the pockets of the few.
"Rock on"..that's all we can do.
A lost cause. Show me different!
It's a beautiful world....sarcasm.
Peace.

I assume this is in regards to me, and frankly I fail to see how I have been unwilling to compromise.
I never said nobody should post anything about politics, the only thing I said was that there are perhaps too many threads about it.
The only response I seemed to get was a hearty "no" or "stop whining"

The leadership of the Republican party has been taken over by the one extreme while the Democratic party has slowly drifted further and further to the other extreme. In the general population, the great majority of people from both parties fall somewhere in the middle and are not polarized, so to speak. If this continues, and there is no reason to think it won't, the moderates from one or both parties will splinter off and form a large new centrist party. Its long overdue.

Judging from the primary season, it looks as though the Democratic party itself is polarized. If their nominee manages to lose the Democrats' best chance of taking the White House in this milennium, a split could happen to the Democratic party soon after the election.

I also think its the nature of the internet, specifically a discussion forum to have strong disagreements. You aren't involved in an actual conversation, so the only reason to post is if you feel strongly about it.

It would be kind of a waste of time for me to go around posting "I am indifferent to this subject" on every post I don't actually care about.
Stand back, I like to rock out.

Then I assume the "speed" camp are not professional drummers, because in the real world, cats who are all chops and speed and no groove get passed over every day for people with great feel and great pocket.

Well, there will never be a centrist party. The whole point of a two party system was to keep government small, and not have too much power. All politicians nowadays are all about themselves and power, rather than working for the people. When was the last time your representative did anything for you? Under this system, people should have a say, but they don't. It's becoming all about what the government thinks is best for you, which is fascism.

Hey Rob B.
I agree with that 100%.
and....The fact tis that The U.S.A. is beyond Imperialism and Facism at this point. The 4th Riech is more like it. Spearheading the U.N. in the goal of world domination as The New World Order.
I DON'T MEAN IN A BIBLICAL ASPECT EITHER. THAT NONSENSE IS COINCIDENTAL .
We have greater problems than the internal governmental issues in this nation...China and N. Korea need food and living space.
If we do the math ...our nations rythem section is way off base on their time signatures.
Just my opinion.

Scott McClellan on today's Morning Show, " We have to get away from this 'politics is war' mentality and bring back civility".

That's what this thread is all about. And that mentality crosses over to other topics as well.

Funny thing. I was over at Ford Music Store today and I saw your add looking for - something. Any way, I said to Ken, I've had verbal jousts with this guy. Ken ask if I ever met you ? No. "Well don't give him a hard time, His arms are bigger than your waist !" So, OK, what ever you say.

BTW, Ken also said you're a hell of a nice guy. But I might still joust (verbally of course) with you.
