My thoughts exactly.mjb wrote:how about they all just stay home if thats the case.
Why doesn't Paul McCartney and Ringo get together with two other people and tour as The Beatles?

I could accept Plant, Page, and Jones with Jason Bonham behind the kit, but there comes a time when a band is a band in name only.
However, I wasn't critical of The Who touring when Entwistle died because tickets were already sold and a lot of promoters and other people would have probably gotten majorly screwed if they cancelled. This is a little different, IMO.

It wouldn't be a problem if they didn't use the Zeppelin name. The rumor online is that Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy is the singer that Jones mentioned. Mark Tremonti was the first to comment on it:

Pour me another one, cause I'll never find the silver lining in this cloud.

It kind of freaks me out that people remember little blurbs I've written six months ago.Hawk wrote: (Note to paul - I know, he's sloppy)

In related news, I pulled out my copy of Physical Grafitti last week and remembered once again how much Slow 'n Easy is a rip-off of In my Time of Dying and how much Judgement Day is a rip-off of Kashmir.
...still love Whitesnake though and still think Coverdale is an awesome vocalist.

yeah, i'm sure it was a moving expierience. we're talking about a zep Reunion, not jimmy sitting in with the black crowes. it's wierd cuz i am a HUGE zep fan, but never been goo goo over jimmy page, even though i'd have to say he's been a huge influence early on in my developement as a gittar player. thats not what we're talking about though.YankeeRose wrote:Well, I saw Jimmy Page with the Black Crowes and imho, Musically, it was not a farce nor a waste of time.

on a side note: it seems to be what people like to say that jimmy was sloppy, i think it's because of bootlegs that got out there with some sloppy playing back in the day. if somebody recorded every show we all did, people could say the same thing about everyone who plays. jimmy is a master, plus he was on the H train back when, thats enough to make anyone sloppy now and again.
i still say, no plant, no zep! i can even begin to think how anything less would be worth the astonomical prices they'll be asking for tix. i'll wait till it comes out on dvd.

But that was billed as The Black Crowes and Jimmy Page. I think the issue is that this is being billed as Led Zepplin, and it's only two of the original members...and one isn't even the face and voice of Led Zepplin.YankeeRose wrote:Well, I saw Jimmy Page with the Black Crowes and imho, Musically, it was not a farce nor a waste of time.
The Black Crowes/Jimmy Page stuff was pretty killer, though.
edit: Mike beat me to my point.

To ME, it just doesn't seem right...Zep ended when Bonham died, as did the Beatles when John was shot.
It just seems like a horrible marketing attempt: I heard a DJ say "This'll giv the young people a chance to experience a great thing like some of us did so long ago." Uh, no slapnut...it won't...Plant and Bonham won't be there!!!

Hey Paul . That was actually meant for our mutual friend with the user name "paul" of Big Head Guitars. He's a huge Page fan yet always says, "He's so sloppy".bassist_25 wrote:It kind of freaks me out that people remember little blurbs I've written six months ago.Hawk wrote: (Note to paul - I know, he's sloppy)

Oh yeah, I remember learning Heartbreaker and Paul always saying how sloppy Page's playing is on that.Hawk wrote:

It is pretty damn sloppy on that solo, though.

First off, I'm a huge Zep/Page fan...and Jimmy was sloppy...but great.
The lead bit to "Hot Dog" is...something.
Oddly, if Plant were DEAD, I think I'd find this less odd. Maybe the
idea that it's being billed as Zep, but all the available members aren't part
of it is what doesn't seem right.
I had no real problem with Queen touring with Paul Rodgers fronting,
I'd have no issue with the Doors touring and someone else replacing
Morrison (Would prefer it..but that's just a dislike of Morrison so
anyone not named Kid Rock would be an improvement).
Guess the only thing SORT of comparable...and even it doesn't have
the perceived enormity, is The Cars touring without Ocasek. That
was strange...
There are plenty of bands touring without original members (Can see
many of them at a state fair near you every year). I guess just that this
would be a pretty huge thing is what makes you wonder, oh it really
makes you wonder...

It's like this or should be:
No Robert Plant - No Led Zeppelin
No Jim Morrison - No Doors
No John Lennon, George Harrison - No Beatles
No Dennis DeYoung - No Styx
No Mark Farner - No Grand Funk Railroad
No Pete Ham, Tom Evans - No Badfinger
No Phil Lynott - No Thin Lizzy
And this could go on & on & on but why go out on tour & misrepresent the original product ? I'm just not down with that.

I've drank enough beer to float a battleship! Go ahead and Rock & Roll all night if you can but don't party every day!
