PA state inspection and emissions laws
***Didn't know where to post this, so please move if it's not in the right place***
Is there a website that has the do's and dont's for what mods are acceptable on your car?
As far as I know anything built before 1977 are exempt from all emissions rules and regulations.
Has this been extended to include 1982 by chance?
If there isn't a website, does anyone know an inspection mechanic, who they could ask for me?
Wondering if I have to keep the catalytic converters on this '82, or if I'm ok to get rid of them?
I have full length headers and a new full stainless steel exhaust minus the cats that I'd like to put on this Mustang.
Thank you

I have my certifications and would make sure anything you install meets carb ( California air research board) standards. You may need documentation to support this .
Subject vehicles in an I/M county or region include gasoline powered 1975 and newer model year vehicles, excluding the current model year, with a GVWR of 9,000 pounds or less
Exemption under the 5000 mile rule
Vehicles driven less than 5,000 miles in the previous 12 months as indicated by the mileage noted on their safety inspection certificate or by the mileage recorded on the vehicle inspection data base and which were owned by one individual for at least 1 year

Yeah you are right. I asked the mechanic if I had to and he said yes.KyleMayket wrote:also, if the car origionally came from the factory with cats, you have to have them on there!
What I'm thinking is that I'm going to get it inspected as is, then put the headers, exhaust, cam, heads and inake on it. Then I'm going to dis connect the speedometer cable after it reaches 4,500 miles.

Then I'll hook it back up before I get it inspected next year.
