you have
You have to have a job to be required to pay taxes. If you didn't have a job then you get by without it. If you have a job and don't pay taxes then more power to you.
The problem with Income Taxes being voluntary is the same problem that we have with everything. We do not work together and everyone is too busy with their own thing to do anything about anything.
Just imagine if you would 500,000 families from Central Pa refusing to pay their Federal income tax on the grounds that they are unconstitutional. What happens then?

i would imagine the largest federally funded arrest program to date.
no, but seriously, i did see a vid once that stated there is no actual law stating you have to pay income tax. there was some guy in the state of indiana that didn't pay his state taxes, and was arrested because of it. well, the jury found him not guilty because the state law was stated that anyone who was required to pay federal taxes had to pay state taxes, and since no one could provide proof that there was was a law stating you had to pay federal taxes, he was found not guilty. i dunno if it's true, but wouldn't it be awsome if it was? when it comes to taxes, i agree more that a state should tax you, not the feds. of course i'm sure some of you dems have no prob throwing outrageous amounts of money towards the ever growing black hole known as the united states government...

here this might help clear the air a bit!!
Legal or illegal?
The tax laws in America were established under the authority of the U.S. Constitution, Article I, Sections 2, 8, and 9, and Amendment XVI.
* Article I, Section 2, “Representatives and direct taxes shall be apportioned among the several states which may be included within this union…”
* Section 8, “The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States….”
* Section 9, “No capitation, or direct, tax shall be laid, unless in proportion to the census or enumeration herein before directed to be taken.”
* Amendment XVI, “The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several states, and without regard to any census or enumeration.”
Although a person should not have to pay more than is necessary, paying federal income tax is certainly not voluntary, and as long as taxpayers are not compelled to do something outside of God's Word, we must obey that law.
Next to outright tax fraud or deliberate tax evasion, failure to file a return is considered by the IRS to be the most “egregious form of non-compliance.”
Of the dozens of reasons stated for claiming that paying income tax is not legal, the following five are the ones most cited.
* By signing a Form 1040 you waive your 5th Amendment right against self-incrimination (The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled in fifteen different cases that the 5th Amendment does not apply to civil proceedings like collecting taxes. It applies to criminal proceedings).
* The tax laws are unconstitutional (The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled in twenty-two different cases that the tax laws are constitutional).
* The tax laws do not apply to wage earners because the law taxes only income and wages are not income (The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled in sixty-one different cases that wages are in fact income and can be taxed).
* The tax laws are voluntary. Because they are voluntary, one has the option to pay or not to pay (The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled in fifteen different cases that although Congress has the right to collect taxes by force, it has chosen to give taxpayers an opportunity to comply voluntarily, before exercising that force).
* The tax laws apply only to residents and nonresident aliens; they do not apply to persons born in the United States (The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled in nineteen different cases that the tax laws apply to all citizens and all residents who live within the territorial and state boundaries of the United States and all citizens who live outside of these boundaries).
Conclusion
Certain aspects of our tax system are without a doubt constitutionally questionable.
However, the federal tax courts and the Supreme Court of the United States have held thus far that the tax system is both constitutional and legal.
We have adopted a form of government in which the courts decide legality, not the individual. Therefore, we must observe those laws and pay our taxes.

I wasn't considering it, but now that you mention it, I totally should. Do you have any ideas for an easy to access place to host these that people could direct link to? My Libertarian one was a hack-job, but I don't pretend to be any whiz at this sort of thing.MeYatch wrote:that's the second one of those. Oh and Jeff, I believe the psychological problem is being an idiot, but I have to consult the DSM-IV before I say anything official.

I'm pretty sure they are all psychological classifications, but they have different "qualifications".bassist_25 wrote:Oh and Jeff, I believe the psychological problem is being an idiot, but I have to consult the DSM-IV before I say anything official.

I thought it might be a good idea to look this up, since many of us may feel the need to use these terms on a frequent basis...especially when watching cable news shows and sports events.bassist_25 wrote:Oh and Jeff, I believe the psychological problem is being an idiot, but I have to consult the DSM-IV before I say anything official.
From Mental Floss Magazine:
In 1911, French psychologists Alfred Binet and Theodore Simon created the first modern intelligence test, which calculated IQ based on whether children could accomplish tasks like pointing to their nose (honestly) and counting pennies. The concept of “IQ” followed soon after, and psychologists fell so deeply in love with the scientific nature of the tests that they created classification systems. Any child with an IQ of above 70 was considered “normal,” while kids above 130 were considered “gifted.” To deal with kids below 70, psychologists invented a nomenclature of retardation. Those with IQs between 51 and 70 were called morons. Morons had adequate learning skills to complete menial tasks and communicate. Imbeciles, with IQs between 26 and 50, never progressed past a mental age of about six. And the lowest of all were the idiots, with IQs between 0 and 24, who were characterized by poor motor skill, extremely limited communication, and little response to stimulus.
Based on this explanation and his demonstration of communication, I have to conclude that Harry Reid is most accurately classified as a moron.
...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...
If this is all accurate, I have a few managers who are morons, a couple coworkers who are imbeciles, and one certain coworker who classifies strictly as "idiot"lonewolf wrote:bassist_25 wrote:From Mental Floss Magazine:
