Police cite Steelers kicker for restroom tantrum

PITTSBURGH (AP)—Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Jeff Reed is in trouble with the police over some towels, but not the Terrible kind waved by his fans.

Pennsylvania state police say Reed threw a temper tantrum at a Sheetz convenience store in New Alexandria, a tiny borough about 35 miles east of Pittsburgh, because its restroom didn’t have any towels.

Reed has been cited for disorderly conduct and criminal mischief, offenses similar to traffic tickets that carry a maximum fine of $300 and 90 days in jail each. Police said he broke the towel dispenser then used profane language to an employee and also outside the store.

“Reed caused damage to a towel dispenser as he was infuriated at the fact that there were no towels in it,” according to a news release by Trooper Shawn Askins, who issued the citations. The incident occurred Saturday about 2:50 a.m.

A message left on an answering machine at Reed’s home was not immediately returned.

Steelers spokesman Dave Lockett said the team wouldn’t have any immediate comment.

“We’re still gathering information right now,” Lockett said Saturday.

Reed made 27 of 31 field goals and 36 of 37 PATs for 117 points in his seventh season with the Steelers, which was capped by Pittsburgh’s 27-23 win over the Arizona Cardinals in the Super Bowl.

Reed has made nearly 83 percent of his field goals (162 of 196) and scored 733 points for the Steelers in his career.

I met him at the Castle Pub on Friday night...he puked on the stage we had to play on last night....several times. And he was MAJOR pervert with all of the ladies. And he arrived 2 1/2 hours late.

What a douche!

So, the Sheetz incident happened on his way back from Ebensburg then. According to the article, the incident happened about 2:50 a.m. Saturday morning.

Jeff lives on the Southside,I have ran into him countless times out and about.
He has been cool to me but I have seen him do some fucked up shit.
"It's just Jeff being Jeff,he's harmless" but I see a pattern forming with him.
I think Tomlin is going to have a little chat with him and it's not gonna be pretty.
But all in all from what I know of him he's alright.He's a douche for sure but he's alright. For now.

sheesh. i guess that's roid rage for you. i kid i kid. ever noticed that little thing in every sheetz bathroom. the one that says "if your not satisfied with the restroom in anyway, call this number" ... yea, probably woulda been a better idea to do that instead of throwing a fit about the lack of paper towels. besides, when i'm in a bathroom that's out of paper towels, i use my pants. that's what they're there for

He's throwing a fit over no paper towels? Somebody needs to "block" his arrogant actions & inform him that life isn't perfect. If he's going to places that us regular people go, chances are things don't always work out peachy. This prima donna needs to wake up or stay home with his ego.

but with Reed's prior incidents of exposing himself (multiple times) he probably wasn't wearing pants at the time.

I guess Sheetz will capitalize on this story and install goal posts at the entrances to all their stores that you have to drive through with the slogan, "You always score at Sheetz" and introduce their new Shteelers Shkicker sandwiches.
