Franken-Taco-Caster (Hey MJB)

Post by Colton »

Got this from MJB a while back....

50's Mexican Reissue
Image

Sperzels required the holes drilled out, floyd rose took two 9.5mm holes and some dremel work (wish i could get a pic of the cut, it came out perfect) Used a dremel for the LSR as well to get the majority, then a file & sandpaper.

The damn black pickup covers were backordered and just got shipped today =/

Sorry for bad pix, used my cell. Love this thing, thanks mjb =)

Looks good, I got a Highway One Strat that I put a black pickguard on that looks similar ( minus the Floyd of course )

Nice job on it, looks like you bought it like that.

Thanks guys, I like how it came out too. Wish I would have taken some pictures along the way.

No new pups in this yet. I actually like the way these reissue ones sound... they might end up growing up to be full dogs =)

Since I was using 12's, I have all 5 springs in the back. Down to 11's now, but kept them in there.

By the way, this thing weighs about as much as a Cadillac.

Colton,

It is about time that someone paid homage to the lowly FrankenStrat. You did a great job. Here is my little monster.

Haha hell yeah!

As for $$$
Strat = $300 and a myspace design (I still feel like I owe you something mike)
LSR = $10, from lonewolf
Floyd Rose = $20, from Metalchurch
Sperzels = $80
Pickguard = $20
Knobs = $7
Selector Switch Tip = $2
Teflon Trem Nuts = $7
Dunlop StrapLocks = Dunno, got them years ago
and the tuner was a gift from Felix...
Cigarette burn = $60 bag of beans. Yeah, forgot i set it there while I was working on intonation.
Chips of paint in random places = Well, thats just what you get for taking it EVERYWHERE hung across your back.

That reminds me, I gave felix my old white volume knob. He wears them out doing all that volume swells when he plays. He actually had to switch the volume out for a tone knob once since it was wore down so damn much. He got a kick out of it when I gave it to him....

very nice colton and resourceful!

you don't owe me nothing man, someday maybe you'll be a position to help a fellow musician out, i got that guitar from helping my buddy do some bathroom work and didn't even have an electric guitar at the time i think. my buddy helped me out, just like i helped you out. i was glad to do it, just like when your time comes you'll be glad to do it too. i was going to put the money from that axe toward another one but ended up buying christmas presents with the doe. worked out for everybody :wink:

how do i add show dates to the myspace??????

Is it crazy to name your guitar?

Think I'll name her after the hebrew word for night - Layla =)

Looks good man!
Where did you find your pickguard? That's an 8 hole isn't it?

Grab some EMG's and get rid of some knobs and switches and it'll be a machine. :lol:

The pickguard was ordered from musicians friend. Made sure it was thicker than that original one, since when i put the floyd rose in, I had to cut out one of the holes, which brings it down to a 7 hole =)

Yeah I hear ya man, cause I had to do the same thing to my Jake E. Lee strat, but I then drilled a hole to replace the one that I had to cut out.

It does look alot better since you added the Floyd and LSR.
This one's a keeper I take it? 8)

LOL :lol:
I remember the day that you got that thing, you were fuckin stoked to say the least.
I know you've been wanting a decent Fender Strat for a while and that one you got from Mike is damn near the exact one that you were lookin for.

I cant wait to see what it looks like 10-15 years from now :lol:

Oh yeah Colton, I name all of my guitars, so it's not weird if you ask me.
