communication breakdown

Post by Dragan Kalasa »

Man, this is starting to become slightly frustrating to me and I'm just going to vent. What is with people and communication. I think I'm more anal about this than my counterpart, but christ, if you say you're interested and have some ideas, and then hide for weeks on end without regard for other band members, then WTF are you saying you're interested in the first place. There's nothing I hate more then people leading me on. If you try out and you don't like what you hear, or "it's not your thing", fine, say it! Don't freaking lead the band on. If you say you're going to call someone, get in contact with someone...F*CKING FOLLOW THROUGH!!!! Again, how is hiding from bands that you respond to help you out? If I were to see someone who was supposed to try out for me, avoids all contact from the band, then repost weeks later. I would definitely give some negative feedback.

Some people are so afraid of confrontation that they avoid it at all costs.
Others just have great intentions, but lack any ambition. Either way, it totally sucks, but all you can do is be patient and persist. Btw- I sent a bass player your way. I gave him Romans number. I hope it works out.

I know...patience is a virtue. Oh yeah and not to hijack my own thread, but thanks for all your help. :) It's much appreciated.

Lack of communication is one of my most major pet peeves! In job interviews, when I'm asked what is the one thing that I hate the most, I always answer that it's a lack of open communication. From an organizational perspective, it's the fast track to failure.

Maybe the "wannabe's" just like to blow smoke up peoples asses. I have been in circumstances where i went as far as to show up for an audition and it turned out it was just some 'Half-baked" guitarist, with a piece(bass drum, snare, and no cymbals)of a drum set with a mic running through a bass amp. Before I saw his "practice space" we sat and talked shop, about what direction in music and the occasional, "The other guy's should be here any minute" schtick. Anyway, the "drummer" showed up and that was it. No one else showed up, these guy's smoked some weed and were talking how great this "band" was going to be and I hadn't even sung one lyric yet. Long story short, I gave them the option of calling me when things were a little more organized, but he never called. About a month later a friend of mine told me about these two guy's he tried out for and asked if I knew them, I told him about the situation and as it turned out....they did the same thing to him.
Sorry to go on the tangent but I had to tell you guy's that. No doubt these clowns are on here somewhere, but I don't care. If your just wanting to jam with people at least post your experience and PLEASE don't blow the smoke up our asses...exhaling early is a fucking waste....

I'm weird. I get numbers and give my own from a fair bit of people. If I say I'll call, I will. But oftentimes, people tell me they'll call. So, I take it like that... They'll call. I'm just glad life and death aren't based off the call reports I haven't received. Heh

People just have a habit of disappointment. I dunno why. That's probably one reason I'm not in a band of any sort right now though. Course I do have to apologize for the few times in my life that I've done this as well, although to the best of my knowledge, it hasn't been on a muscian level
