He stated that if he is asked, he will be going to represent the his native country in the olympics, no matter what. I seriously don't blame him. But I hope he is still able to stay in the NHL ...

malkin and ovechkin are going to both play for their country. i would do the same. i've read interviews and both said they do not care about any sanctions from the league. any sanctions will be squashed anyway...they are way too popular to fuck with.
