The toughest person you know
Shannon Mae Stotler, my 27 year old wife, is one tough cookie. She has suffered from/struggled with manic depressio most all of her life, but still is a great wife, friend, and excellent mother. 2 years ago during pregnancy she was diagnosed with anemia, diabetes, lupus anticoagulant, and a very aggresive spine fusing arthritis called ankylosing spondylitis. She had to take 5 injections everyday during pregnancy and could not get any treatment for her pain because of risk to our daughter, Sarah. She slugged through it like a trooper working until the last 3 weeks before delivery. Well the diabetes went away and the L.A. Went into remission after having the baby but the arthritis and bi-polar worsened. Drs even suggest she quits her job, but she's would never do that. It would kill her spirit. Yesterday she found out the lupus anticoagulant is not only back but its progressed into full blown systemic lupus. Her joints swell so bad it just hurts looking at them and she is taking care of me after my skin graft surgery as I'm confined to a wheelchair for 2 more months. You know what she still goes to work everyday and comes home to me and the baby, makes us dinner, changes my wound dressings, bathes the baby and keeps smiling. She also volunteers as secretary for my moms non profit and helps me organize benefits for kids with medical problems. I don't know where she gets the strength or patience, but I am grateful for it. She' one tough mother fucker. I love you baby, and Happy Valentines Day! Who's the toughest person you know Rockpage?

First, Sanchez let me say that my heart goes out to you and your family and I am not ashamed to say it brought tears to my eyes.
The toughest person I have ever known was my stepdaughter Jessica who battled cancer for 2 years.
After her initial brain surgery to remove a tumor on her medulla or brain stem, she handled everything well ... a whole helluvalot better than my wife and I did. Once the chemo and radiation started we knew the hair would go. The night that she started to lose her hair, she was laying on the floor and got up and there was a clump of hair on the floor. My wife gasp and I just sat there bewildered. Finally when it all came out, she ran around the house singing "I'm a little baldy."
After six months of remission, the tumor came back and the drs at Hershey told us this would be it. Being honest with her was the best thing, so we told her that she was going to die. Waiting for this blood curling scream and crying she just sat there and asked if she was going to see Jesus.
I know that I'm a real prick at times in here and there are times where we all think we have it so bad, but I look at Sanchez' wife and the crap Jessie went through and while I sit here and bitch and complain about my country, different ppl in here and the petty bullcrap that I go through, I guess I have it pretty good. I'm fat, 45, a singer in a band, alive and have a wonderful wife and kids.
Thanks Sanchez for reminding me of that. My heart goes out to you and your family and you all are in my prayers.

Your wife is awesome Sanchez. Whenever I saw her at a show or outside a show, she always had a smile and something nice to say. She was always very pleasant to be around. I didnt know she wasnt doing well.
I am sorry. Life certainly sucks, but the real warriors are the ones who conquer whatever obstacle is in front of them. She certainly sounds like one of those people. I hope everything gets better for the both of you.
PLUS.... she has to be one tough MF to be married to YOU.
Toughest person I know? Me for sure. I once fought 35 ninjas and a pissed off bodybuilder with only a flashlight, a 20 lb bag of potatoes, & jar of vaseline. JK
I dont know who would be the toughest person I know. Good question though.

I always thought I was "tough" but faced with what Shannon has been faced with, I'd be a big, blubbering pussy. (Being married to you must be a bitch!)
Seriously tho, Shannon is a sweetheart and I hope that she can beat all that shit and get a little pain free peace SOON.
You too Dirt. I had no idea that you were on 4 wheels for 2 months. I wish nothing but the best for you both as you're 2 of my favorite people.

You don't shoot a man in the dick!
I'm gonna resound the sentiments the others have said, and say I'm sorry Brian. I hope both of you get better. You're both straight forward, honest people trying to live the best you can, and it just fucking SUCKS when people just doing that are thrown back and forth by the tides of life. Best of luck with both you and her getting better. That's amazing in its own right
I'm in need of rest right now, but I'll try to get a better post on some time later

Thanks guys (and Andrea). I didn't intend this thread to be just about my wife and Jeff that's exactly what I'm talking about. Your stepdaughter sounds like she was a real trooper. We all fall into the negativity trap and forget how fortunate we are sometimes. But we have people there like Shannon and Jessica who remind us that life is what we make no matter what hand you were dealt. As far as my health I'm just gonna have some chronic pain but nothing life threatening. The drs were amazed at just how healthy I am for being such a fat guy my bp cholesterol heart rate is all PERFECT. Lol go figure. Thank god tho, cuz I'm a huge pussy when it comes to drs/hospitals. Let's hear about some more tough guys/girls.

Hang in there Brian,it'll get better. The toughest person I know right now is my girlfriend Tina. We were hit last year on the motorcycle and she's been in pain ever since-lower back, leg and foot. They finally found that it's a ruptured disc in her back and possible nerve damage, but being it was a vehicle accident it's hard to get treated because of the way these rip off insurance companies handle things, but she keeps on going, works two jobs,is a mother and puts up with my shit!! Hell, putting up with me is enough!!!(no comments from the peanut gallery on that please
)

Sanchez, I often see shannon posting of other children needing help on myspace. I thought what a caring person she must be...I never knew of her personal issues.
I was going to respond, "my mom" who put herself through terrible tests during her cancer battle so the family would know the genetics. I was going to go over the history of it all and my family's battle with the disease...but after rereading your post, I have a new response.
Shannon is the strongest person I know who I really don't know. May God bless you all and watch over your family.
