Friends of Mysterytrain please help spread this message
Sorry we hate to do this but we are making our first official rule for our summer events. PLEASE pass this on and help us spread the word. This is very important!
STRICTLY ENFORCED AT ALL MYSTERYTRAIN EVENTS:
IF YOU ARE UNDER 18 YEARS OLD DO NOT COME TO OUR EVENTS WITHOUT A LEGAL PARENT OR GUARDIAN!!! IF YOU ARE UNDER 21 AND CAUGHT DRINKING ALCOHOL YOU WILL BE THROWN OUT AND BANNED FROM ANY FUTURE EVENTS!
ANY VEHICLE CARRYING PEOPLE UNDER 21 WILL BE SUBJECT TO SEARCH OF VEHICLE.
Thanks,
Dan

now thats funny!ANY VEHICLE CARRYING PEOPLE UNDER 21 WILL BE SUBJECT TO SEARCH OF VEHICLE.
i 'm not sure but, i doubt you can search vehicles dude, and what are you gonna do when someone says fuck you.
thats probably to make sure no one under the age of 21 is drinking in the car. i do agree i doubt your going to be able to search cars. you may just want to post something about underage drinking not allowed so if anything should happen your not reliable.
The script was written, and the villian was cast. The provocation needed, they will provide. They did it before, they'll do it again.

If I were you, Id prob make a rule that kids arent allowed period...no matter if their parents are there or not. You have to consider what goes on there. What kind of parents would take their kid there anyway???
A few friends I have always enjoy your events, but I have yet to go to one... I will be soon! I just cant wrap my head around why a parent would take a kid to an event like that. Id make it 21+, that way you guys are covered.

Maybe
Maybe cause their playing the show...
Or maybe cause they are open minded and don't want their kids to live in a bubble...
Or maybe some people might understand that it takes all types to make the world go clickety ckick and that when you judge a book by it's cover you often miss the good parts...
Or maybe because life is full of people who do things that you don't agree with, does not make them wrong. Also the fact that you can go to an event and choose not to do something you disagree with is a powerful thing. Peer pressure is awful!
Well you get the message!
Peace...
Obviously I am taking my kids....

People are free to do what they want, Im all about that. What isnt cool (to me) , is doing all those things with kids all around or taking your kids there and then getting all fucked up on whatever. Im not saying YOU personally (i know you dont do anything) but im saying in general.
Personally, I wouldnt want my son around a bunch of people doing "whatever". Thats not an environment id want him in. Id never want my choices or friends choices to influence what he does.
People 21+...hell yeah, they are old enough to see and do whatever is there. No harm there. No explaining to anyone what others are doing and why, and no need to worry if people are of age. Thats all im saying.

I
Hey Keith!
I don't do anything that I would not do around my kids. That would make me a hypocrite. I am not going to hide things from my kids either. They are smart and I will trust them to make informed decisions. They can't make informed decisions though if they have no experience with things that I shelter them from.
Everyone is different in these kind of things and I will always back a parents privilege to raise their children the way that they see fit, hell we home school our kids..
Peace Man!

Dave, I think your views are certainly respectable.tornandfrayed wrote:Hey Keith!

On the other hand, lets say a heroin addict has kids and shoots up all the time around his children. Is that ok because he doesnt hide it? Not in my book at all. Kids are very impressionable and alot learn by the example their parents set. Thats why there ARE so many screwed up people in the world. I tried pot for the first time cause i saw my dad doing it and knew where he kept it. He did it, so that planted the seed that it was "ok". when we associate ourselves with things, its saying everything is ok with it. As I said before, id rather my personal choices not effect how my son feels about things. Wanting better for my child doesnt make anyone a hypocrite. To me, its more responsible to NOT do things around kids. I certainly agree that kids shouldnt grow up sheltered, but certain environments arent for kids.

Holy shit guys I was just stating that we will not tolerate under age drinking and will do everything to discourage it. We've never had any issues or problems at any of our events. That's a good thing, right?
We go out of our way to make our festivals as family friendly as possible. We allow pets, set up a kid's activity area, water sprinklers etc. The same people that come to our shows are the same people that go to curve games, own businesses, work in hospitals and support local benefits and want to make this area a better place to live.
Some of these people also grew up de-seeding weed on their brand new Crosby, Stills and Nash Album with their headphones on.
I know, now comes the “what about the children” part... well...
I would take my kid to a Curve game but some drunk would spill a beer on them...
I would take them to a Penn State game but the crowd would riot if they won...
I would take them to a wedding but Uncle Jim-Bob gets trashed and curses like a sailor...
I would take them to the WWF at the Jaffa and really show them how to fight...
As for searching cars... it's buried deep in the Patriot Act (you know that thing that nobody ever read) that Mysterytrain has the right to search vehicles.
So anyway, I don't want to be in a pissing match with anyone. I'd rather meet you at a show and play some music for ya.

TJ Kelly wrote:How about the underage partaking of certain natural substances? I certainly don't want my kids asking what that smell is wafting from that bush over there. Woodstock was along time ago man and if you want adults only partaking of certain things legal or not then make it over 21.
Dude it's 2010 put away the love and peace festival bullshite. We've all been there done that a long time ago in a galaxy far far away!
And what's up with asking bands to play for free? I've put alot of time into my craft and invested alot of money in my gear and deserve to get paid if I choose to play. Not because I can't play a paying gig because I want to jam on 2 chords for 20 freakin minutes after a "smoke" break!
Grow up!

harsh
TJ you're harshing my mellow.
It's their festival so what? Want paid? Then don't play.....
If you don't want your kids exposed then leave them at home.
Mysterytrain puts on a festival. Mysterytrain sets limits at their festival to protect themselves. If you don't like what Mysterytrain does, why are you complaining? Did they put a gun to your head and force you to get involved?
Dude you need a little peace in your life

Cool
See that is cool that we agree on this completely. I would never do drugs in front of my kids cause I don't do drugs, so that is not an issue for me.
I think this will be a fun event and I hope to see some of you there!
Thanks again Dan!
