I'm debating on buying this. I would really like something cool like this to experiment with and just have fun with, but am still thinking. What does everyone think?

It's a Rogue, so I wouldn't expect great quality; but it could be hella fun. There was a time when every recording artist had sitar on their cuts and it kind of became cliche. Now, I think it would be cool to bring a little sitar back.

yeah, eBay usually has one or two. I have to say, I've been happy with every Rogue purchase I ever made, but I kept my expectations realistic. My first dobro was a Rogue, and believe it or not, it sits right up there next to my Regal, soundwise. Build quality, not so much, but it's better than I assumed, and an excellent starter. I've played through a surprising Rogue 2x12 solid-state amp, it's similar to the Fender with the same features. I've also heard really rave reviews of a certain Rogue Herringbone acoustic guitar, though I haven't heard it yet. I have played the Rogue A-model mandolin... actually quite nice for the student, when you find out they sometimes sell for $40 brand new!
I'd take the chance on the sitar.

Thanks for the good input everyone!
It's certainly helping me out. I think I probably will save up for this... It sounds like it would be well worth it.
Also, Songsmith, I think it's funny that you mention Rogue's mandolins as I saw that too and have sorta been considering one of them as well. Something cheap but decent like that would be great for me as someone inexperienced with mandolins.

It's hard to go wrong for that price. You'll have to tweak it a bit, maybe... I've had a few low-end mandos, and I usually file the sharp edges off the bridge so it's easier on the picking hand, and always restring, what usually comes with them shouldn't even be called strings.
If you want to amplify, I have a secret weapon pickup: the K&K Little Big Shot, which eBays for around $40 as well. The owner of K&K sent me a tip that works VERY well...wedge the coin-sized pickup between the top and base parts of the floating rosewood bridge, using a guitar pick as a shim. It doubles the perceived output level, and I could NOT get it to feed back, even when playing with a full rock band. Works really, really well.
