Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the September 13 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock (94.3 FM) in Altoona and Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via both stations' websites.

We looked into more new recordings that have arrived in recent days, and debuted more new music! Along the way, we introduced new songs from Ted McCloskey, Jack Servello, Braden McDannell, Coltt Winter Lepley, Zupe (yes, a waltz about Italian pierogis was played on the "Homegrown Rocker"), Ryan Clark, Blind Choice and Stephen T. Gray! We also updated "Local Music News," dug a 1985 number by Blair County rockers XL from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a tune from southern Maryland's Flippin' Eyelids! And we reviewed two albums in "The Professor's CD Corner" this week - Don Hughes' A Hero's Journey CD during the first hour, and Buggsy Rock's Lost Kingdom III CD in the second hour! A busy week!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

DONNY BURNS & THE 3RD DEGREE - "Out of Dodge"
NEGAN - "Where Do We Go From Here"
TED McCLOSKEY - "Statues"
CONNER GILBERT - "Bridges"
JACK SERVELLO - "Sunshine and a Little Lightning"
THE HAWKS BLUES BAND (Blacksnakes) - "Bottom Shelf Woman"
BRADEN McDANNELL - "What Am I"
DON HUGHES - "The First Confrontation"
COLTT WINTER LEPLEY - "The Bandito"
RYAN MATTHEW - "My Drinkin' Song"
ZUPE - "Pitiful Pierogi"

HOUR TWO:

BLACK CAT MOAN - "Is What It Is"
EAST COAST TURNAROUND - "Where's My Sunshine"
RYAN CLARK w/DAVE EBERSOLE - "Ghosts of Her Past"
BUGGSY ROCK - "UFO"
BLIND CHOICE - "Courtney"
XL - "We Like to Dance" (1985, Local Music Flashback)
FLIPPIN' EYELIDS - "Bruises and Scars" (Across State Lines)
MFG - "Back on the Streets"
STEPHEN T. GRAY - "Entanglement"
AFRAID OF HUMAN - "Not This Time"

We welcome a guest on our next program, as we speak via phone with Pittsburgh-based solo artist and bassist/singer with Chip & the Charge Ups, Maleena! Maleena has just released her first solo album, called Bruises to Prove It - she'll tell us about her solo career and the creation of the album, and we'll check out songs from it! Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," dig a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, and review Anti-Corn League's Love It or Leave It CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!" Hear the "Homegrown Rocker" this Sunday night (September 20) on Q94 Classic Rock (94.3 on your FM dial, or online at www.q94classicrock.com) and 105.9 Qwik Rock (105.9 on your FM dial, or online at www.1059qwikrock.com)!

In Local Music News...

A new band has formed from the ashes of former local heavy rockers E.N.D. The new project, called Disease Of The Mind, is described on their Facebook page as “a heavy jam band with various influences and touches of hardcore, groove, doom, thrash, industrial, rock, black and death metal.”

Altoona-based soul, R&B, funk and rock ensemble The PennSoulvanians have expanded their ranks, announcing the addition of Michael Stanley on bass this past week.

Western PA musical family patriarch Tim Woods has announced that he will be releasing a new album in October.
