John William McKee, 75, of Altoona, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023, at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona to William and Shirley (Ray) McKee.

John is survived by his sons, John (Cheryl) McKee and Tommy McKee; daughter, Tracie (Steve) Ocker; grandchildren: Joe McKee, Connor Ocker and Hayden Ocker; great-grandson, Riley McKee; and granddogs, Cocoa and Dukino.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amanda McKee.

John graduated from Altoona Area High School. After high school, he served in the Army Reserves and spent his career working for Conrail as a machinist. After retiring from Conrail, John invested in buying houses and turning them into rental properties throughout Altoona.

He absolutely loved to play Bingo several times a week and enjoyed having fun and laughing with all his Bingo friends. John was a drummer for Band of Gold. He also enjoyed coaching football, baseball and basketball; watching Pirates and Steelers games; meals at Lena’s and Tom and Joe’s; and watching his grandson, Hayden, bowl. John was an avid trout fisherman and always looked forward to going to Spring Creek with Todd and John, or making the trip to Erie to fish for steelheads with his friend, Charlie Shannon. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

A private family memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will take place at Alto-Reste Park.

Arrangements are by The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto Reste Park, Altoona.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John’s name may be made to Central PA Autism Society, 507 Spruce St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
