Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the June 18 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

In honor of Father’s Day, it was our annual “Fathers, Mothers, Sons and Daughters of Local Music” special! We spotlighted local music families, featuring tunes from area music dads, moms and their musical kids. We also had a father and son in the studio; Greg Burley of Rock & Rye, along with his son, Dustin, of Plazma. The two performed a couple of songs together, and Dustin sang several of his solo compositions for us. We also flashed back to 1997 for a song from Greg’s former band, Toddo.

Here is this week’s playlist (including, in parentheses, the band members we recognized as being a father, mother, son or daughter in a musical family):

HOUR ONE:

THE NIGHTCRAWLERS – “African Echo” (Aeb Byrne – daughter)
FELIX & THE HURRICANES – “It’s Just Me” (Jeff Clapper – father, Ryan Clapper – son)
GREG & DUSTIN BURLEY – “Cat’s In the Cradle” (performed live on the air)
V.I.H. BLUES BAND – “Kiss the Blues Goodbye” (Sterling Koch – father, Kate Koch – daughter)
JERRY’S FAULT – “Shady Lady” (Jerry Carnevali – father)
DUSTIN BURLEY – “Wish” (performed live on the air)
SERVELLO FAMILY – “Here Comes the Sun” (Jack Servello – father; Barb Servello – mother; Richie Servello – son, Riann Servello – daughter)
SQUARE ONE – “Ohio” (Don Osborn – father)
DUSTIN BURLEY – “Soul Jive” (performed live on the air)
WHITE WITCH – “The Power” (Carl Berry – father)
INFUSED – “Who Stole the Sun” (Ed Longo – father)

HOUR TWO:

STEVE & AUTUMN SHIFFLER – “Pictures” (performed live on the air 6/15/03; Steve Shiffler –father, Autumn Shiffler – daughter)
BIG DADDY & BABY BLUE EYES – “Down” (performed live on air 5/21/01)
GREG & DUSTIN BURLEY – “Feelin’ Alright” (performed live on the air)
RAGEING STORM – “Every Day” (Jerry Oswalt – father, Adam Oswalt – son)
TODDO – “Threw Me Away” (1995, Local Music Flashback) (Greg Burley – father, Mark Panek – son)
DUSTIN BURLEY – “Ball and Chain” (performed live on the air)
ATREUS – “Blinded” (Shane Mullen – son)
SHERRI MULLEN – “Modern Day Loving Family”

Next Sunday night, we hope to speak with the Bethlehem-based rock band Spitshine via phone. Spitshine performed this past weekend at the 3rd annual Relay For Life Band Jam at the Shade Gap Picnic Grounds, and will perform at the Harpers Memorial Park Rockfest 2006 at Shade Gap on July 8. We hope to get the latest scoop on Spitshine, and perhaps hear some new tunes from them as well.

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

JULY 2 – Millennium Music Conference Recap Special
JULY 16 – Dave Blackledge
AUG. 6 – Cover Song Special w/Hair Force One
AUG. 13 – Nitekast
AUG. 27 – Fast Forward Special
OCT. 8 – Acoustic Jam Special 6
