the fact that this legislature was shot down was brought up in the law section, and some were not thrilled. I'm curious where everybody stands on the issue. _________________ Stand back, I like to rock out. |

No, and I'm a nonsmoker.
Every person I've ever talked to who is involved in the New York nightlife has told me that club attendance went down when smoking was banned. I think it's a terrible habit, but I'm not going to tell people what to do. _________________ "He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film. |

It depends on if the bar has music. I don't like breathing in/taking pictures in mushroom clouds of smoke.. but that's just me. |

I'm a non-smoker, have a stake in a bar, etc...
I say let the bar establishment decide on if they want to be a non-smoking bar or not.
What I can see happening is that the private clubs will win again on this if it were to pass...so the private clubs will get to have bands and smoking and those regular bars like ours would loose out because you will not get people to come in if they can't have their drinks and their smokes at the same time. No one is going to let their drinks at the bar while they go outside to have a smoke.
For every one that comes to a non-smoking bar, you would loose 5 people to a place that can allow smoking. |

It should be up to the owner. There is a bar in Ebensburg that is smoke-free and that is fine. He may loose out on some potential customers, but that was his desicion to make.
Why does our government (and many of our citizens) believe that there needs to be laws in place to protect us from ourselves. I agree with Tom.
If you want to open an establishment that is a non-smoking enviorment, then that is perfectly acceptable. However, don't try to lure in people that enjoy live entertainment because the majority, not all, but the majority of people are smokers and tend to smoke heavier in social situations. Not only are you losing those potential customers, but you are also losing money from not having the outragously priced cigarette machine. Once people have tied one on, dropping over $5.00 dollars for another pack isn't really an issue anymore.
Freedom of choice - that is why America is the land of the free. It's the choice. Once that choice has been taken away from you, it and you are no longer free.
It's that simple. _________________ Jae Smith

I like to bring like three packs everywhere I go, and then end up selling them when other people need them. I sold some for $1 a piece at a concert when we were up front and nobody was gonna move to get cigarettes. Thats capitalism baby! _________________ Stand back, I like to rock out. |
