Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the October 1 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7. The "Backyard Rocker" is brought to you by the U.S. Army. Visit their website, www.goarmy.com, and call the Altoona Recruiting Station at (814) 944-2592.

This week's program ventured in a theatrical direction. Our guests were local musician John Charney and Ryan Skiles, the musical director and director of Cresson Lake Playhouse's production of "The Rocky Horror Show," taking place Oct. 20-28. We got inside this year's production, which according to John will take more of a rockabilly/surf slant. We discussed the actors, the changes from previous productions, and what audiences can expect this year. For more information about this year's "Rocky," visit the Cresson Lake Playhouse website, www.cressonlake.com.

We also previewed a couple of tracks from John Charney's forthcoming solo CD, Be Water, which comes out later this fall. John will be back on the program to discuss the new album in further detail on December 3. We also debuted a new song from Joint Effort, a new studio project featuring Felix & the Hurricanes bassist/singer Jeff Clapper, his son Ryan, Matt Wagner Band/Spirit Lost drummer Lisa Fazenbaker and others.

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

RIK GOLDEN - "Something Else (In Mind)"
FRED GARVIN PROJECT - "Wild Crazy Nights"
WINE OF NAILS - "Full Moon Over the Graveyard"
JOHN CHARNEY - "Holy Hoptoes"
THE MARAUDERS - "Dead Of Night"
SOUNDRIVE - "Jet Plane"

HOUR TWO:

HI-TYDE - "I Will Find A Way"
JOHN CHARNEY - "Ode to Krystle"
JOINT EFFORT - "Say You Will"
JOHN CHARNEY w/WHITE MOJO - "I've Put A Spell On You"
SILVER SUNDAY - "Cathedral Lights"
WINE OF NAILS - "Manhattan South"

Next Sunday night, it's the next installment of the "Acoustic Jam Special," where we invite several area musicians and acoustic acts into the studio to perform songs individually, and then get together to jam out on several songs. This special has produced some wild and crazy moments in the past, such as an 8-minute acoustic rendition of Motorhead's "Ace Of Spades" featuring banjo and harmonica, and other memorable jams as well. Among the guests expected to take part in this special are John Stevens, Rick Ramsey, members of Half Tempted and more. We'll also review a new local CD in "The Professor's CD Corner," update Local Music News and more. It's "Acoustic Jam Special 6" on the "Backyard Rocker," next Sunday night!

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

OCT. 15 - Blues and Roots Special
OCT. 29 - Halloween Special/Underground Television Season Kickoff Special
NOV. 19 - Good For Nothing
DEC. 3 - John Charney
DEC. 10 - Sterling Koch
DEC. 17 - Fat Vinny & the Wiseguys
DEC. 24 - Christmas Special
DEC. 31 - 2006 Year In Review Special
