Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the November 19 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

Thanks to our guests, the Chambersburg-based band Good For Nothing (www.goodfornothingband.com), for a fun and interesting two hours! We got acquainted with the band members and learned their story, and heard tracks from their first CD, Welcome to the Carnival, plus heard a track from their forthcoming second album, expected out next year. Several lucky listeners won copies of the CD and Good For Nothing T-shirts! Plus, the guys brought instruments and performed two songs live on the air. We also updated Local Music News, and debuted a new song from Burned Bridges.

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

VS. THE EARTH – “Psycho”
JACKSON MONSOUR – “Nightmares”
GOOD FOR NOTHING – “Swimsuit Calendar”
THE MARAUDERS – “Dead Of Night”
GOOD FOR NOTHING – “Compromise”
HIEROSONIC – “Before Autumn”
GOOD FOR NOTHING – “A Year Wasted” (performed live on the air)
GOOD FOR NOTHING – “What Happened to the Time?”
BURNED BRIDGES – “I’ve Grown Cold”

HOUR TWO:

SILVER SUNDAY – “Naked”
FAYTED – “Too Late”
GOOD FOR NOTHING – “Inspiration”
ISSUES – “Creature”
GOOD FOR NOTHING – “Sick Sad Song”
LEDBETTER HEIGHTS – “Your Secret’s Out”
GOOD FOR NOTHING – “Better Than You” (performed live on the air)
GOOD FOR NOTHING – “Lowlife”

Next Sunday night, The Marauders return to the “Backyard Rocker,” and they’ll have lots to talk about! We’ll discuss their new CD, which is being released this week (the official CD release show is Thanksgiving Eve at Aldo’s), and we’ll hear plenty of tunes from the CD. Plus we’ll discuss the group’s good fortune in hooking up with Brian Setzer, who wrote the song “We Are The Marauders” for them; The Marauders open six shows for the Brian Setzer Orchestra this month and next month! We’ll also check on Local Music News, and review another new local CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” The Marauders return to the “Backyard Rocker,” next Sunday night!

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

In Local Music News…

A few new band collaborations to report…

Several members of Scream have formed a new side project. In fact most of Scream minus guitarist Skip Henry have formed Easy Money, a more acoustic-geared side project that will perform classic rock and Southern rock favorites of the 70’s and 80’s. Easy Money will perform on Friday evening, December 1st, at the Blue Juniata VFW in Mount Union in a benefit event for the Fast Trackers Relay For Life Team.

Another new band to watch out for is The Verge, featuring three well-known area music names. In the new project, Jeff Renner, who has played recently on area stages as solo artist Lone Wolf, will sing and play guitar. Former Flame Sky bassist and solo performer Matt Burns will play bass and sing, and former Sidestep drummer Steve Brulia staffs the drum kit. The Verge will play classic and modern rock spanning the past four decades.

Harrisburg Online (www.hbgonline.com), a website covering Harrisburg area music and events, presented its first-ever awards event this past week. The 2006 Central PA Music Awards presentation took place this past Thursday night at the Appalachian Brewing Company in Harrisburg, with winners determined by online voting. Several bands and performers you’ve heard on the “Backyard Rocker” came away with some hardware Thursday night; including Sherri Mullen for best acoustic act, Adrian Blitzer for best cover band, Herbie for best jam band, Spinebelt for best metal band, Holis for best rock/pop band, and Hierosonic for two awards, best original band and best local CD.
