Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the August 17 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

On this week's program, we previewed the 13th annual "End of Summer Jam" benefit concert, which takes place next weekend, August 23 and 24, at the Cresson Sportsmen's Club. Thanks to members of Felix & the Hurricanes, T.M.P. (Tony Mollick Project), Half Tempted, Bad Daze, Never Enough, Outta Kuntrol and Flord; plus show organizer Mickey Luckenbaugh, for taking time to speak with us about the concert.

These bands; along with Hair Force One, Austin Nichols Band, Banditos, Beyond Reason, Jeff Renner and Todd Hinkle; are donating their talents over the two days of the show, and helping to raise money for Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Admission is $10; children under 12 get in free. Free parking and overnight camping; plus food and refreshments will be available. Those attending must be 21 or older and have a legal ID to consume alcohol; no glass bottles or kegs will be permitted. The 13th "End of Summer Jam" is sponsored by Q94 and Pennsylvania Musician Magazine.

We played music from several of the bands involved, along with music from past show participants, and footage from the 1995 "End of Summer Jam" for our Local Music Flashback. In addition, we premiered new music from V.I.H., Fat Vinny & the Wiseguys, The Front (Altoona-based, live footage from their July 20 show at Altoona's Heritage Plaza), and The Pipe Bombs.

And we made the first official announcement about this year's Q-Fest. This year's show happens on Saturday, September 13, also at the Cresson Sportsmen's Club, and will feature performances from Sound Driven, Roadkill, Felix & the Hurricanes, Halestorm, The Marauders, and a sixth band to be named, plus several acoustic performers. Proceeds from that concert will benefit the Emergency Services Support Fund, a fund established after Sept. 11 to help out the surviving families of area emergency personnel (firemen, police, etc.) killed in the line of duty.

In all, a very busy two hours!

This week's playlist:
