Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the April 29 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7. The show is brought to you by The Altoona Curve (www.altoonacurve.com), "Everybody's Hometown Team!"

Thanks to our guests via phone, Sterling and Kate Koch of the Victory In Heaven Band (www.vihband.com). Sterling and Kate updated us on the latest V.I.H. Band happenings, and gave us insight on the group's brand new album, V.I.H. V; we heard numerous songs from the album. We also updated Local Music News, and reviewed the new CD by Justin Mack, Long Road Home, in "The Professor's CD Corner." (The review can be viewed in the "Backyard Rocker" section of the message board area on Q94's website, www.wbxq.com.) And we debuted new songs from John Lyons, Sakred Realm and the Hillbilly Gypsies. In Local Music News.

In band personnel news, guitarist Eric Wertz has left the Altoona-based band 9 Planet Tour, citing musical differences with the group.

The Altoona punk-metal band FedUp has added a fifth member, guitarist Scott Bush. Scott previously played guitar in Condemned Existence, One Gun Salute and Driven.

A popular party band that has graced stages in the Altoona area has bid farewell. Something Fluid played their final show this past Friday night, after seven years of triggering dance floor action from regional stages. No word on what the band members' future endeavors will be.

Another Harrisburg-based band has also disbanded. Booty Camp, a band that spun off of the former Lovestomp, announced that they were calling it quits after their bass player left to join another offshoot from Lovestomp, the band Stomp'd.

Speaking of Stomp'd, that group experienced a wedding this past weekend, as singer Amy Jo Hurricane and guitarist Willy G tied the knot this past Saturday. The two also are expecting a child. Willy G is a former Johnstown resident.

Wedding bells are also in the near future for the band Beyond Reason. Bassist Jamie Smith and the group's stage and beer tech, Lisa Myers, will walk the aisle on May 12. The "Backyard Rocker" sends a congratulations out to the couple.

Fans of folk and bluegrass music, listen up...On May 12, Altoona's Railroaders Memorial Museum will be hosting a folk and bluegrass festival. The festival starts at 10 AM, and will feature performances from the King Cotton Rounders, Oak & Ivy, Jean Roman, Mama Corn and more. Tickets are $10, and can be purchased at the Railroaders Museum or at Custom Guitar Works in Greenwood.

Blue Number Nine, Summit City Saints, Your Dad's Friends, Full Kilt, Jay Smar, Jerry Haines, the Michael O'Brian Band, Three Generations on Strings, Anthony Stauffer and Holy Smokeand The Banjo Man are just some of the performers will be part of this year's Blair County Arts Festival. This year's Festival happens May 19 and 20 at Penn State Altoona.
