Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the May 6 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7. The show is brought to you by The Altoona Curve (www.altoonacurve.com), “Everybody’s Hometown Team!”

Thanks to our guests in the studio, I.U.P.-based power trio The Overthrow (www.theoverthrow.net), for a fun and rocking two hours! We got acquainted with the band members and learned their story to date, and heard recorded songs from their 5-song demo. Lead singer/guitarist Kalin McDannell brought his acoustic guitar along, and he and the group did two songs live on the air! We also updated Local Music News, and reviewed Keystone’s latest CD, Runway Queen, in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” (The review can be viewed in the “Backyard Rocker” section of the message board area on Q94’s website, www.wbxq.com.) And we debuted new songs from Rise Phoenix Rise and Escaping Grace. Once again, a busy week!

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

TONY MOLLICK PROJECT – “Sweet Sister”
WAY DOWN EAST – “ZZ Deathbed”
THE OVERTHROW – “Lost My Way”
FLIGHT 19 – “3 of a Kind”
THE OVERTHROW – “Read Me”
SPIRIT LOST – “Lost Soul”
THE OVERTHROW – “Lives I’ve Lost” (performed live on the air)
RISE PHOENIX RISE – “Boxing Josh”

HOUR TWO:

MIDNIGHT RODEO – “.44 Caliber Love”
FELIX & THE HURRICANES – “Black Widow”
THE OVERTHROW – “Pandora”
KEYSTONE – “Rollin’ on a Bad Beat”
THE OVERTHROW – “She Don’t Know”
ESCAPING GRACE – “One Thing Left to Prove”
THE OVERTHROW – (untitled) (performed live on the air)
THE OVERTHROW – “Hate”

Next Sunday night, the show will take a harder and heavier musical direction when we are joined in the studio by Altoona-based heavy metal quartet Choking Faith. We’ll meet the band members, learn their story to date, and hear tunes from their latest CD, Thru The Ashes. Lucky listeners will have chances to win a copy! We’ll also update Local Music News, and hear tunes from other area bands and artists. Choking Faith visits the “Backyard Rocker,” next Sunday night!

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

MAY 20 – Lowjack
MAY 27 – Memorial Day Special
JUNE 3 – Somerhill
