Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the September 21 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

Once again, things took some unexpected twists leading up to this week's show, and the end result was a surprise guest! After scheduled guests Jump The Gun jumped out of their appearance late in the week, the show was just going to be guest-less for two weeks in a row. But on this Sunday afternoon before the show, I attended the annual Hollidaysburg Oktoberfest celebration, where Hollidaysburg native Jon Kaplan, singer and guitarist for Washington D.C.-based modern rock band Bicycle Thieves, was performing acoustic. I spoke to Jon after his performance, and he graciously accepted my offer to appear on this week's program. Jon and Bicycle Thieves have just released their second CD, “The Second Place Confession.” We heard tracks from the CD, gave away two copies to lucky listeners on air, and Jon performed two songs from the CD unplugged in the studio as well. All's well that ends well, and thanks to Jon for coming through at the last minute and making it an enjoyable two hours!

Also along the way, we debuted new songs from Pivot, Cell 7 and Sherri Mullen.

This week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

V.I.H. - “Can't Judge the Book By the Cover” (live)
FELIX & THE HURRICANES - “Issues”
PIVOT - “Y”
STEPT ON - “Drowning”
BICYCLE THIEVES - “Loser of the Year”
MARAUDERS - “Sweet Misery”
BICYCLE THIEVES - “Monuments”
POPTART MONKEYS - “Adore Me”
JON KAPLAN - “These Things” (live in studio)
CELL 7 - “So What”

HOUR TWO:

NEGATIVE SPACE - “Dirty”
NO DICE - “35 Minutes”
BICYCLE THIEVES - “Encore”
NEVERMOURE - “Untouchable”
JON KAPLAN - “All The Same” (live in studio)
POKER FACE - “Break The Control”
THE GRIMM - “Forced Reflection”
BICYCLE THIEVES - “Sky Is Falling”
THUNDERBOX - “Rubber Band”
SHERRI MULLEN - “Time to Say Goodbye”

On Sunday night, September 28, we will be joined in the studio by No Dice. This Altoona-based foursome is set to release their new album, “What Are We Sorry For.” We will hear songs from the CD, and hear the band members discuss the CD, their music, live show, and recently completed video. No Dice makes their return to the "Backyard Rocker," this Sunday night!

Other forthcoming guests and specials include:

OCT. 5 - No Refill
OCT. 12 - Poker Face
OCT. 26 - Inversion
