Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the December 9 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBXQ 94.3. The show is brought to you by The Altoona Curve (www.altoonacurve.com), “Everybody’s Hometown Team!”

Thanks to our guests, singer/songwriters Denise Baldwin (www.denisebaldwin.net), Rick Cosgrove (www.myspace.com/rickcosgrove) and Walt Churchey (www.waltchurchey.com); all members of the Johnstown-based organization SongWorks. Formed last year, SongWorks is an association of Johnstown and Somerset County-based musicians who work to develop and promote the art of songcraft, and promote the support of original music in the community. We learned about SongWorks and about each musician’s career, and heard songs from each performer, both recorded and live on the air! We also heard songs from SongWorks members Tim Dabbs and Rachel Allen in absentia. We also debuted new songs from Valerie Nicole and Rockabilly Junction, and reviewed The Nightcrawlers’ new CD, Blue Silver, in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” (The review can be read in the “Backyard Rocker” section of the message board area on Q94’s website, www.wbxq.com.)

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

RHYNE McCORMICK – “Girl Turned”
SHERRI MULLEN – “Please Come Home for Christmas”
RICK COSGROVE – “First Snow” (performed live on the air)
RICK COSGROVE – “Queen of the Park”
VALERIE NICOLE – “Fed Up”
DENISE BALDWIN – “Unexpected” (performed live on the air)
DENISE BALDWIN – “Standing in the Rain”
JACKSON MONSOUR – “Coconut”
ROCKABILLY JUNCTION – “Shifting Gears”

HOUR TWO:

MICHAEL REICH – “Dare I Complain”
RED LETTER BAND – “Angels We Have Heard on High”
WALT CHURCHEY – “Under the Christmas Tree” (performed live on the air)
WALT CHURCHEY – “Back Way Home”
THE NIGHTCRAWLERS – “So Many Stars”
TIM DABBS – “Graveyard of the Alleghenies”
RACHEL ALLEN – “Wal-Mart”

Next Sunday night, our guests in the studio will be the York/Baltimore-based band Images Of Eden. We’ll find out the latest Images Of Eden happenings, and hear songs from the group’s latest CD. We’ll also update Local Music News, and hear tunes from other area bands and artists. Images Of Eden returns to the “Backyard Rocker,” next Sunday night!
