Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the June 15 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBXQ 94.3.

In celebration of Father’s Day, this week the “Backyard Rocker” presented the annual “Father’s Day Special.” We honored local and regional music scene family tradition over the show’s two hours, featuring area music scene dads, moms, sons and daughters and the music they make. Several songs even featured parents and kids performing together! One song capped a special story: Infused drummer Ed Longo wrote the song “Evil’s Past,” and it was his wish to perform with his son, Ed Jr. on the song together. Unfortunately, Ed never achieved this wish, as he lost his battle with cancer in late 2006. However, Ed’s remaining Infused bandmates completed and recorded the song last year, with Ed Longo Jr. playing drums! We also reviewed a new CD featuring a father and daughter, Sterling and Kate Koch and their new blues project 61 South; we looked at their self-titled debut CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” (The review can be read in the “Backyard Rocker” section of the message board area on Q94’s website, www.wbxq.com.)

Here is this week’s playlist (with the musical parents’ and children’s names in parentheses):

HOUR ONE:

BEYOND REASON – “The Rain” (Dan Myers II and Chris Myers, sons)
FATHER’S DAY JAM ‘07 – “Me and Bobby McGee” (performed live on air 6/17/07) (featuring fathers and sons Randy and Evan Rutherford, Rick and Eric Wertz)
JOINT EFFORT – “Say You Will” (Jeff and Ryan Clapper, father and son)
FELIX & THE HURRICANES – “It’s Just Me” (Jeff and Ryan Clapper, father and son)
THE GREEN ONIONS – “Down the Drain” (Cort Byron Sr. and Corty Byron, father and son)
SOUNDDRIVEN – “Mephistopheles” (Luke Leiden, son)
JUSTMEGAN – “No Places to Run” (Megan Carlson, Seth Carlson, daughter and son)
THE MARAUDERS – “Rumble on the Rocks” (Ben Dumm, son)
TONY JANFLONE JR. – “Crocodile Tears” (live) (Tony Jr., son)

HOUR TWO:

FAMILY TRADITION – “Should’ve Seen It Coming” (Bill Kelly, father; Bill Kelly Jr. and Joe Kelly, sons)
THE SERVELLO FAMILY – “Here Comes the Sun” (Jack and Richie Servello, father and son)
THE NIGHTCRAWLERS – “African Echo” (Aeb Byrne, daughter)

Next Sunday night, our guests in the studio will be the popular regional rock group Rise Phoenix Rise! We’ll meet the band members and hear tracks from their debut CD, The Land of Oohs and Aahs; plus listeners will have chances to call in to win a copy! We’ll also hear music from other area bands and artists, update Local Music News, and review a new local/regional CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” Rise Phoenix Rise visits the “Backyard Rocker,” next Sunday night!

JULY 6 – G211
JULY 20 – Fast Forward Special
JULY 27 – 61 South
