Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the February 22 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

Thanks to the members of Right Side Thief – Joel Stiles, John Solinski, Ken Karlheim and Dan Way – for joining us on this week's program. Currently a studio project, Right Side Thief is putting the finishing touches on their debut CD, slated for a summer release. We discussed the project; heard melodic, progressive-geared songs from the CD; and learned about Right Side Thief's plans to perform live this coming summer. We also debuted new songs from Hannah Bingman and New Eden Orchestra.

This week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

AXUM - “The Point”
BACKSTREET LAW - “Sharks”
RIGHT SIDE THIEF - “Insignificance”
THE GRIMM - “Forced Reflection”
RIGHT SIDE THIEF - “The Race”
FLORD - “My Pain”
RIGHT SIDE THIEF - “Not A Good Thing”
HANNAH BINGMAN - “Please Leave”
NEW EDEN ORCHESTRA - “Jihad”

HOUR TWO:

DOCTOR'S OFFICE - “Less Affected”
RIGHT SIDE THIEF - “Tears”
INFUSED - “Defused”
RIGHT SIDE THIEF - “Tell Me”
SKELL - “Slunk”
RIGHT SIDE THIEF - “Belief”
THE FLAME SKY - “Woodcutter”
RIGHT SIDE THIEF - “Gossip”

This coming Sunday, Feb. 29, a busy week on the show. First, our in-studio guests will be Punxsutawney-area “farm-core” rockers The Mad Cows, and we'll hear tracks from their new CD, “Life Sucks, But Who's Trying?” In addition, we will be joined by Dan Rugh, the head of western PA-based indie record label 814 Records. Dan will give us the lowdown on the annual “814 Riot,” a showcase and party featuring several 814 recording groups, which takes place the weekend before Saint Patrick's Day. The Mad Cows and 814 Records on the “Backyard Rocker,” this Sunday night!

This week in local music news...

There will be a special benefit show for Bill Glasgow, which will take place on Saturday, March 27 at the Ramey Firehall. Bill, the bass player for the Smoke Run Band, was seriously injured recently in a farm tractor/snow blower accident. The Smoke Run Band and Kyx will both perform to raise money to help Bill out.

The second annual Rockin' for a Cure benefit concert will take place on Friday night, April 2, at Glenn's Place in Claysburg. Proceeds from the show will go to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Bands donating their talents to the cause include Hair Force One, Shift, Beyond Reason, The Rudys, and the long-awaited debut of The Trace Moran Band.

The Harrisburg-based rock band Evensong has officially released their self-titled CD, and performed several CD-release events in the Harrisburg area this month. Evensong will be guests on the “Backyard Rocker” on April 4.

And the Altoona-based metal band Flord is seeking a new drummer, following the departure of Rick Fisher. Anybody interested in auditioning can email flord@getflord.com for more information.
