Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the May 2 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

“Backyard Rocker” guests who arrive bearing buffalo wings are always welcome inside ‘the House that Rock built.’. Brandishing said wings, Dave Blackledge was our guest for a fun two hours. We met Dave and got inside his humorous brand of music and career to date. We also discussed Dave’s 3rd annual Singer/Songwriter Festival, taking place June 18-19 in Bloomsburg. Besides bringing wings, Dave also brought his guitar, and played a number of his songs live on the air. Several lucky listeners win copies of Dave’s new ‘best-of’ CD collection, called “Corned Beef Re-Hash.” Along the way, we checked on local music news, and introduced new songs from Pork McElhinny, Bret Alexander and Hannah Bingman.

The playlist:

HOUR ONE:

FAT VINNY & THE WISEGUYS - “Folsom Prison Blues”
STEVE SUMMERHILL - “Overnight Express”

In local music news this week:

Changes for the band Frayed…Singer Dave Moses has left the band due to artistic differences. The group also has a new bass player, as Brian Snare replaces Bob Gailey. Brian played with Frayed guitarist Scott Bush in a prior band, Velocity.

A change for the Badlees…Singer and guitarist Jeff Feltenberger stepped down from the Badlees this past March, and is now fronting a new band, Sweet Pea Felty. The remaining Badlees will continue as a four-piece, and still plan to release a new studio album later this year.

Area drummers get ready to unite again! Another drummer get-together will take place this Wednesday evening from 5 to 9 PM at Tyrone Area High School. The get-together will be all about drums, and will include drum demonstrations, videos, sharing of information, equipment and more. Drummers of all ages and skill levels are invited to attend.

Q94’s “Backyard Rocker” sends out speedy recovery wishes to VIH Blues Band guitarist Sterling Koch. VIH has had to go on hiatus at least through Memorial Day weekend while Sterling recovers from a pinched nerve in his neck, which causes severe pain in his left shoulder and forearm, rendering him unable to play his guitar. X-rays showed a degeneration in the disk of Sterling’s neck as well as arthritis.
