Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the January 19 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

Thanks to our in-studio guests, The Marauders, for an entertaining program. Featuring former members of Full Time Kings, Keystone All Stars and The Big ‘Uns, The Marauders formed last year with a new musical focus – injecting rock’n’roll’s roots with a fresh, modern punk drive and enthusiasm. We heard numerous tracks from The Marauders’ forthcoming full-length CD release, “Alibi,” expected out this spring; and the group talked about their music, its widespread appeal, and the group’s record label, 814 Records.

In addition, we featured music from other members of the 814 Records family, such as the Keystone All Stars, The Harlots, and The Mad Cows. We flashed back to 1990 to hear 814 Records alumni The Full Time Kings and the live performance of “Everyday’s Saturday” from the 1990 Ernie Ball Music Man Battle of the Bands 3 Semifinals. And we introduced new music from Burning Blue and Downside. It was a lively, fun two hours!

The playlist:

HOUR ONE:

SOUNDRIVE – “Blue Summer Night”
SILVERBOY – “Thank You”
THE MARAUDERS – “New Tattoo”
THE HARLOTS – “Angel”
THE MARAUDERS – “Roadkill”
BROK*N – “Oracle”
THE MARAUDERS – “Alibi”
THE WHISTLEPIGS – “Rockin’ the Knob”
BURNING BLUE – “Wicked City”
RAGHOUSE – “Spectre”

HOUR TWO:

NO ON 15 – “Pass Me a Straub”
THE MAD COWS – “Rossiter, PA”
THE MARAUDERS – “She’s A Prostitute”
KEYSTONE ALL STARS – “Concrete Rulers”
THE MARAUDERS – “Sapphire/Oh My My”
DOWNSIDE – “Downside”
THE MARAUDERS – “Sweet Misery”
FULL TIME KINGS – “Everyday’s Saturday” (live, 1990, Local Music Flashback)
THE MARAUDERS – “Road Rat”

This coming Sunday night, January 26, it’s the second annual “Backyard Rocker” Super Bowl Widow’s Special. Even though the show host’s favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, fell short in their quest to make it to the Super Bowl, yours truly will still take in the Super Bowl between the Raiders and Buccaneers (or more importantly, one of the many parties associated with the game). In the show host’s absence, the Q94 2003 Calendar Girls will take over the “Backyard Rocker,” playing music from their favorite area bands and artists. Find out what area bands the Calendar Girls like, on the Super Bowl Widow’s Special, this coming Sunday night on the “Backyard Rocker.”
