I was always breaking strings at the saddles on my Starcaster and I ran across these little marvels by Graph Tech called String Saver bridge saddles. They make lower cost, all graphite black ones and more expensive stainless steel ones with graphite in the string grooves. They have sizes for Fenders, Gibsons and PRS. The difference is unbelievable. No more string breaks at the saddle and the sustain is unreal. No mods are required, so you can stash your original saddles and put them back on later. They say this is the best upgrade you can do to a guitar, and I think they may be right:

Stewart-MacDonald sells the stainless for $45
