Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the September 4 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week, we continued to visit our mailboxes to check out new recordings that have arrived in recent weeks, and debuted plenty of new tunes. We featured new songs from Nobody's Heroes, Lovebettie, Jack Servello, Red Paint, The Cliff Legend, Almost Howe and Next To None. We also updated "Local Music News," paid homage to Pittsburgh legend B.E. Taylor with one of his 1991 songs from the archive for this week's "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a song by North Carolina-based performers Bill & Friends, and reviewed Anne Kachline's Passing Pilgrims CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

In Local Music News...

A member of The Clarks is chipping in to help out his hometown during a time of need. After heavy rains flooded Connellsville in southwestern PA on Aug. 28, Clarks lead singer and guitarist Scott Blasey - a Connellsville native - quickly moved to help out his hometown and its residents, providing supplies and a personal cash donation, and coordinating a collection effort with his fan base to donate to special Paypal account. Blasey is coordinating with a local Connellsville business, the Health Insurance Company, who will match dollar-for-dollar any donations up to $5,000 that are received by September 6.

Submissions and applications are currently being accepted from bands and musicians interested in showcasing at the 21st annual Millennium Music Conference in Harrisburg. That conference will take place from February 23-27 of next year at the Best Western Premier - The Central Hotel and Conference Center in Harrisburg, and will feature two days of music industry panels, workshops, mentoring, a trade show, and performance showcases at venues throughout the Harrisburg region. The showcase submission/application deadline is November 30, 2016. Showcase submissions are free via Reverbnation and Sonicbids through the end of September. After September 30, showcase submissions are $20 per band or performer. More than 300 different performers will be selected to participate in the conference and showcase, and 200 of those will be selected through Reverbnation and Sonicbids. For more information about submitting an application, visit the conference's website, www.musicconference.net.
