Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the March 25 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

One month ago, during February's 22nd annual Millennium Music Conference in Harrisburg, participating bands and musicians at the conference were invited to submit their recordings to a special "Homegrown Rocker" dropbox on the PA Musician Magazine table at the trade show. At the close of the trade show on Saturday afternoon, one recording was randomly drawn from the box - the self-titled debut CD by Jeannine Higgins - and Jeannine won an interview and guest appearance on this week's show! So we met and learned about Jeannine and her musical world - a Bucks County native, Jeannine relocated to the Houston, Texas area and raised a family, before returning to her passion for music, learning guitar, writing songs and recording her album! We heard tracks from that album, and heard Jeannine's thoughts and inspirations about her music! Along the way, we debuted new songs by Chris Rattie & the New Rebels, Jelli and The Crow Flies, updated "Local Music News," and stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a tune from New Jersey-based singer and songwriter Andy Dimacale!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

WALKNEY - "I Always Wanted You"
MAKING STATE - "The Waves"
JEANNINE HIGGINS - "Be Home for the Fall"
CHRIS RATTIE & THE NEW REBELS - "Prisoner 743"
JEANNINE HIGGINS - "She's Nobody (Emily's Song)"
CRAWDAD JOE - "Stay Awake"
JEANNINE HIGGINS - "She Won't Stay"
STERLING KOCH - "Holiday"
JELLI - "Let Love"

HOUR TWO:

JUKEHOUSE BOMBERS - "Nothin' to Lose"
THE WRECKERS - "Best Days"
JEANNINE HIGGINS - "Would You"
SIX BAR BREAK - "Straight and Narrow"
JEANNINE HIGGINS - "Tell Me Something True"
ANDY DIMACALE - "Little Miss America" (Across State Lines)
JEANNINE HIGGINS - "The Reflection"
THE CROW FLIES w/ELI THE HAWK - "Ravens of the Past"
DYLAN E. MILLER - "Three Crows"
THE CREW OF THE HALF MOON - "Wasteland"

With the various guests and specials we have had on the program in recent weeks, the mailboxes have been filling up...So we will resolve that issue on our next program, emptying those mailboxes to check out many new recordings that have arrived in recent weeks! We promise lots of new tunes and maximum local and regional music! Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," dig a tune by a past band or artist from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," step "Across State Lines" to check out music from an independent band or artist from outside of PA, and review Lizzie & the Yeehaw Gang's "Road to Home" CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Upcoming guests and specials include:

APR. 8 - The Roof
APR. 22 - Shattered
MAY 13 - Silver Screen
MAY 20 - Tim Woods Band
MAY 27 - Memorial Day Special
JUNE 3 - Psycho Prophecy
JUNE 10 - Hate Grenade
JUNE 17 - Father's Day Special

Bands and artists interested in having music aired on the show are invited to send their broadcast-quality recordings to: Magnum Broadcasting, 315 South Atherton Street, State College, PA 16801; ATTN: Jim Price/Homegrown. Or drop the recordings off at the station during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 9 AM – 5 PM. You can also email digital song files or inquiries about the show to homegrownrocker@gmail.com.

In Local Music News...

Jim Donovan & the Sun King Warriors are set to release their second album. The new album, We See Through It, will be celebrated with a CD-release concert event at Mr. Small's Theater in Millvale (Pittsburgh) on April 6, with guests Tupelo and Kaelber.

Guitarist Brian Pavlic recently announced that he was parting ways with Chris Vipond & the Stanley Street Band to pursue other musical interests.

Blairsville-based performer Crawdad Joe has announced a name change for himself and his band. Citing confusion from people thinking that the name Crawdad Joe suggested they performed rowdy Cajun music, Joe has renamed his project after his actual last name, Dedon.
