Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the June 3 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

We were originally scheduled to have Psycho Prophecy as guests this week, but our schedules didn't align properly to be able to record the interview, so their appearance was postponed until July. So instead, we dug into the show's mailboxes to explore new recordings that arrived in recent weeks, and debuted lots of new music! We gave first airplay to new songs from Ted McCloskey & Molly Countermine, Rodeo Serenade, Steve Treado, Nick Lamb, Sterling Koch, The Roof, Afrobear, Black Star Sunrise, Afraid Of Human, Phobos Anomaly and Tilted Shadows. We also updated "Local Music News," dug a 1987 classic from Harpo from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback" and stepped "Across State Lines" to check out a tune from New York's American Pinup! And we reviewed not one, but TWO albums in "The Professor's CD Corner," reviewing Jim Donovan & the Sun King Warriors' We See Through It CD during the first hour, and Almost Howe's Deceived CD during the second hour!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

ZACH WADE & THE GOOD GRIEF - "Halfway Man"
BLACK CAT MOAN - "Statesboro Blues"
TED McCLOSKEY & MOLLY COUNTERMINE - "So Much Later Than Before"
RODEO SERENADE - "She's Got You"
STEVE TREADO - "Don't Say"
MONSTER TRACK SUPERGROUP - "Adrienne"
NICK LAMB - "Rock N Roll's My Road"
JIM DONOVAN & THE SUN KING WARRIORS - "Ahh, Can You Feel It?"
STERLING KOCH - "Funk It"
THE ROOF - "Kindled"
AFROBEAR - "Without Your Love"

HOUR TWO:

FLIGHT 19 - "Liquid Courage"
DELUDED YOUTH - "Legend"
BLACK STAR SUNRISE - "Queen of Misery"
ALMOST HOWE - "You're Not My Fantasy"
AFRAID OF HUMAN - "Ghost in the Shadows"
HARPO - "Gas House Alley Rock" (1987, Local Music Flashback)
AMERICAN PINUP - "Get Better" (Across State Lines)
ONE ADAM 12 - "Legendary"
PHOBOS ANOMALY - "Guns & Sex"
TILTED SHADOWS - "Break the Spell"
HATE GRENADE - "Burn"

We'll lob a grenade at you on our next program, as Altoona-based nu-metal rockers Hate Grenade join us! We'll get caught up with the band members and learn their latest happenings, and Hate Grenade will pull the pin on their new CD, The King Is Dead, and detonate several new songs from it! We'll also update "Local Music News" and dig into the archive for a "Local Music Flashback!" Hate Grenade explodes on our next edition of the "Homegrown Rocker!"

Upcoming guests and specials include:

JUNE 17 - Father's Day Special
JUNE 24 - Behind the Grey
JULY 8 - Cover Song Special
JULY 15 - Psycho Prophecy
JULY 22 - Dylan E. Miller
AUG. 5 - Tukurpa

In Local Music News...

The band lineup has been announced for an annual fundraiser event in Lewistown. The Friends of the Embassy organization will hold the fundraiser in downtown Lewistown on Saturday, June 30, as part of Lewistown's July 4 celebration. The day will feature children's activities, food and refreshments, the Liberty Fest Idol competition, evening fireworks, and live music from singer Ken Gray, Lowjack, Felix & the Hurricanes, and a reunion of former Lewistown rock band Johnny Unit. Proceeds from the event will help with the restoration of the historic Embassy Theatre in Lewistown.

And an area musician has achieved a milestone in his budding solo music career. Zac Grace, who has launched his solo career as singer and songwriter after years of playing drums for a number of area bands, has signed an exclusive songwriting agreement with Nashville Cool, an independent publishing company on Music Row in Nashville.
