Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the September 2 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week, we stayed in the mailboxes to check out music from new recordings that have arrived in recent days. We debuted new tunes from The Chrome Hearts, Matt Aquiline & the Dead End Streets, Willow Hill, The Lampshades, Empire in Decline, Negan, Execution Day, Crawdad Joe, Reign Of Z and Almost Honest. We also updated "Local Music News," dug a 2002 live track from Altoona's Backdraft from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to check out a number from Michigan songwriter Alex Schofield, and reviewed Phobos Anomaly's Good Luck of a Giant CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

THE CLARKS - "She's on Fire"
MATT OTIS & THE SOUND - "Frozen Moments"
THE CHROME HEARTS - "Money"

Guests return on our next program, as we welcome Whiskey Pie into the house! Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," dig a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, and review Rodeo Serenade's American Roots CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

In Local Music News...

A renowned longtime rock room and music venue in Erie has closed its doors. Sherlock's and Park Place, which has been a centerpiece in Erie's live music scene since the 1980s, has ended its run, with its last live music performance happening on August 18. The news was a surprise, and the future plans for the building have yet to be announced.

And the "undisputed, uncrowned king of Pittsburgh rock and roll" is being honored with his own special day in the Steel City. In an official proclamation, Pittsburgh mayor William Paduto has declared Saturday, September 8 as Norman Nardini Day in recognition of Norman's 50 years of making music and serving as musical ambassador of Pittsburgh. Norman will celebrate the occasion with a special concert that day at the Syria Shrine Pavilion, where he and his band will perform, along with special guests The S.P.U.D.S., Bill Toms with the Soulville Horns and more. That show will begin at 4 p.m., and advance tickets are available.
