Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the September 23 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week, we caught up with band guests, as we spoke with the members of Altoona-based rock group On The Brink under a tent in the rain during the Route 22 Rock & Blues Festival near Huntingdon! We met the band members and learned their story, and played tunes from their self-titled CD! Since the group features Flame Sky alumni Ed Brinkel and Nate Woods, we dug a 2004 number by The Flame Sky from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback." We also debuted a new song from Willow Hill, updated "Local Music News," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear music from former area musician Aeb Byrne (now based in Los Angeles), and reviewed The Chrome Hearts' Oh No CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

CHRIS RATTIE & THE NEW REBELS - "My Mountain"
TIM WOODS - "Everyday"
ON THE BRINK - "Frank"
MAMA CORN - "Goodbye Comfort Home"
ON THE BRINK - "The Soldier"
WILLOW HILL - "Don't Threaten Me with a Good Time"
ON THE BRINK - "Get It Right"
GARRISON BAILEY - "You Ain't Gettin' Me"
AEB BYRNE - "Tease" (Across State Lines)

HOUR TWO:

JIM DONOVAN & THE SUN KING WARRIORS - "Love Is Right"
THE ROOF - "Kindled"
ON THE BRINK - "Manic"
THE CHROME HEARTS - "Lookin' at My Boots"
ON THE BRINK - "Tomorrow Into the Night"
THE FLAME SKY - "Woodcutter" (2004, Local Music Flashback)
ON THE BRINK - "My Liver Can't Handle a Broken Heart"
ZACH WADE & THE GOOD GRIEF - "Something Happened"

We'll have a guest on our next program, as we speak via phone with Gordon Tittsworth, the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for Pavement Entertainment recording group Images Of Eden! Gordon will update us on the latest Images Of Eden happenings, and we will hear tracks from the group's brand new album, Soulrise! Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," dig a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, and review Hate Grenade's The King Is Dead CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Upcoming guests and specials include:

OCT. 7 - The Chrome Hearts
OCT. 21 - Charlie Barath
OCT. 28 - Halloween Special
NOV. 25 - 20th Anniversary Special (rebroadcast)

(All dates are subject to changes as circumstances warrant.)

A benefit show will take place next month to help out Harpo singer and keyboardist John "Lloyd" Kistner with medical expenses as he recovers from a stroke suffered in August. The benefit will happen on Sunday, October 7 from 5 to 10 p.m. at the River Street Jazz Cafe in Plains (near Wilkes-Barre). The show will feature performances from Harpo side project Suckerpunch, along with Bon Jovi tribute group 7800 Fahrenheit and AC/DC tribute Halfway to Hell. A $10 donation will be accepted at the door.

A Halloween season benefit has been announced for late October. The Trick Or Feed Benefit will happen on Friday night, October 26 at McGarvey's in Altoona, and will collect non-perishable food donations to benefit the Altoona Food Bank. Performing at the benefit will be Hate Grenade, Fyre, Oceans to Ash and Klockwick, with comedy by Steve Kifer. The event starts at 9 p.m.

The McCaulley Project is seeking new members as two founding members have split off to join a new band. Keyboardist and singer Adam DiFlaviano and bassist Kris Civils have left to form the new band Back in the Day with singer and guitarist Kip Woodring and drummer Rick Guyer. The McCaulley Project is currently working with bassist Bill Hunter and guitarist Craig Albright.
