Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the November 4 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

Thanks to our guest via phone this week, Jack Pyers! The former bass player for national recording group Dirty Looks and PA rock powerhouse Harpo, Jack introduced us to his new band project, the Sensational Double Clubs! We learned about the group, and discussed its formation and self-titled debut album, plus we heard songs from the album! Along the way, we debuted new songs from Robin and Rob, Shane Speal & the Snakes, Chris Sutton & Charlie Barath, Matt Westin and Jeff Fetterman. We also updated "Local Music News," dug a 1982 track by Harpo from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to feature music from Nashville's Wilson Brothers Band, and reviewed Ted McCloskey & Molly Countermine's Baggage & Bloodlines CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

MATT OTIS & THE SOUND - "Frozen Moments"
JIM DONOVAN & THE SUN KING WARRIORS - "You Are My Everything"
JACK PYERS & THE SENSATIONAL DOUBLE CLUBS - "All Night Long"
ROBIN AND BOB - "Pussycat Blues"
JACK PYERS & THE SENSATIONAL DOUBLE CLUBS - "Queen Bee"
SHANE SPEAL & THE SNAKES - "Widow Someday"
JACK PYERS & THE SENSATIONAL DOUBLE CLUBS - "Hold On"
CHRIS SUTTON & CHARLIE BARATH - "Ladies Man"
MATT WESTIN - "Our Redneck of the Woods"

HOUR TWO:

ZACH WADE & THE GOOD GRIEF - "From a Coma"
THE CHROME HEARTS - "Money"
JACK PYERS & THE SENSATIONAL DOUBLE CLUBS - "Take My Heart"
TED McCLOSKEY & MOLLY COUNTERMINE - "Spitting Image"
JACK PYERS & THE SENSATIONAL DOUBLE CLUBS - "One Thing"
HARPO - "Where the Sidewalk Ends" (1982, Local Music Flashback)
JACK PYERS & THE SENSATIONAL DOUBLE CLUBS - "Only For You"
WILSON BROTHERS BAND - "Loving You Loving On Me" (Across State Lines)
JEFF FETTERMAN - "Somebody Get Me a Doctor"
CHRIS RATTIE & THE NEW REBELS - "Heading Into Darkness"

For our next program, we return to the mailboxes to see what new recordings have arrived in recent weeks! This means we plan to debut lots of new tunes on the show! We'll also update "Local Music News," dig a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, step "Across State Lines" to hear music from an out-of-state independent band or artist, and we will review Shane Speal & the Snakes' Stay Primal CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Upcoming guests and specials include:

DEC. 2 - Deadside
NOV. 25 - 20th Anniversary Special (rebroadcast)
DEC. 23 - CHRISTMAS SPECIAL

In Local Music News...

The performance lineup has been announced for the 8th annual Patched Together benefit concert later this month. This year's Patched Together: A Day of Music to Benefit the Healing Patch, will take place on Saturday, November 17 at Altoona's Bavarian Aid Society, and will feature performances from Matt Otis & the Sound, Jim Donovan & the Sun King Warriors, 80 Degreez, Negan, Railtowne, Time with Donny Burns, Greg Burley and The Chrome Hearts. The music begins at 2 p.m., and donation at the door is $5 per person, with children ages 12 and younger admitted free.

As reported previously, popular area 1990s rockers Heaven Tonite are reuniting for two performances over Thanksgiving weekend. Both shows - on Black Friday and Saturday, November 23 and 24 - will happen at 120 Pub & Grub in Clearfield. The group has announced that proceeds from the November 24 show will benefit a special scholarship fund set up in memory of longtime area radio personality Bob E. Day, who passed away last month. Bob was the father of Heaven Tonite guitarist Matt Day.

Altoona area classic rock specialists The Syrins have decided to part ways after a 14-year run on area stages to focus on families and other career opportunities.

The area music scene was saddened by the passing of longtime musician Jerry Mosey on October 30. He was 60. Jerry played alongside his brother, Jim Mosey, for two decades in the Mason-Dixon Band, and also played bass in the group Cross Fire. Jerry was also the father of area drummer Jay Mosey.
