Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the February 10 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week, we again caught up on the mailboxes, exploring new local and regional recordings that have arrived in recent days. We ended up debuting a lot of new music, including tunes from Lenina Crowne, Marshmellow Overcoat, Jim Donovan & the Sun King Warriors, Chris Rattie & the New Rebels, John Vento, Brady Novotny, Pensive Fear, Jug and Fist Fight in the Parking Lot! Along the way, we updated "Local Music News," dug out a 2001 number by Johnstown's The Embalmed from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to check out a tune from Orlando, Florida-based metal rockers Meka Nism, and reviewed The Snipped's #dadcore CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

THE SEMI-SUPERVILLAINS - "Tricks"
MATT OTIS & THE SOUND - "Give Me Something Real"
LENINA CROWNE - "Alcatraz to the 8th Power"
LOWJACK - "When You Were Mine"
MARSHMELLOW OVERCOAT - "Smoke Screen"
JIM DONOVAN & THE SUN KING WARRIORS - "We See Through It"
CHRIS RATTIE & THE NEW REBELS - "Cabin Fever" (live from Whiskey Ridge)
DYLAN E. MILLER - "Favorite Distraction"
JOHN VENTO - "Rainbows and Lightning"
COLEMAN RIGG - "Block"

HOUR TWO:

DIVE - "Runaway"
DELUDED YOUTH - "Legend"
BRADY NOVOTNY - "Passions Collide"
THE SNIPPED - "All We Know"
PENSIVE FEAR - "The Forgotten Truth"
THE EMBALMED - "With Arms Both Broken" (2001, Local Music Flashback)
MEKA NISM - "Mouth of God" (Across State Lines)
AFRAID OF HUMAN - "Ghost in the Shadows"
JUG - "Travel On"
FIST FIGHT IN THE PARKING LOT - "I Had a Name"

We welcome musical guests on our next program, as a brand new group on the area music scene - Kristi Jean & Her Ne'er Do Wells - pays us a visit! We'll meet the band members and learn about their musical turf of early 1950s roots country and rockabilly, and hear tracks from their forthcoming debut album, Country-billy Collision! We'll also update "Local Music News," dig into the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and review Miss Melanie & the Valley Rats' self-titled CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!" Hear Kristi Jean & Her Ne'er Do Wells on the "Homegrown Rocker," Sunday night (February 17) at 8 p.m. on 105.9 Qwik-Rock on your FM radio dial, or stream it live online at www.1059qwikrock.com!

In Local Music News...

A change at the top for the annual Route 22 Rock & Blues Festival, as Mike Houck announced recently that he is stepping aside as the main organizer of the event, and passing the torch on to Todd McKeone. Todd, the frontman for the bands Black Sun, Maul and Small Town Horror Show, announced a tentative date for this year's edition of the multi-performer festival, August 16 through 18 at the Lincoln Caverns concert grounds near Huntingdon.

Dave Smith, the longtime singer for Pittsburgh-based Rush tribute Distant Signals, has announced that he is parting ways with the group immediately due to health reasons.

And we at the "Homegrown Rocker" express speedy get well wishes to Jim Donovan. The leader of the Sun King Warriors and former drummer of Rusted Root has been logging hospital time recently for complications following a routine surgery. Jim is now recuperating at home, but reported he is facing significant recovery time. Here's to his complete recovery.
