Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the February 24 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

We returned to the mailboxes this week to explore some new recordings that have arrived lately. We debuted some new music, including songs from Carverton and Fyre. We also updated "Local Music News," dug a 2001 song by Seven Souls from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and stepped "Across State Lines" to hear music from Boston's Hand Made House (featuring Maison Thomas-Eudy, the son of Matchbox 20's Rob Thomas). And we featured not one, but two editions of "The Professor's CD Corner," reviewing the Stevee Wellons Band's Born to Blues CD during the first hour, and Coleman Rigg's self-titled EP during the second hour.

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

THE ROOF - "Kindled"
THE CLARKS - "What's So Funny About Peace, Love and Understanding"
CARVERTON - "Zero"
MY HERO ZERO - "Make Some Noise"
NEGAN - "We"
PENSIVE FEAR - "The Forgotten Truth"
BLACK STAR SUNRISE - "Death Don't Have No Mercy"
THE STEVEE WELLONS BAND - "Rollin' and Tumblin'"
MAMA CORN - "Goodbye Comfort Home"
KRISTI JEAN & HER NE'ER DO WELLS - "Burn That Candle"
THE JUKEHOUSE BOMBERS - "Burnt Biscuit"

HOUR TWO:

MEDUSA'S DISCO - "State of Mind"
BIGFOOT'S UGLY MANSION - "Versus"
BLACK RIDGE - "Down the Road"
COLEMAN RIGG - "Goodnight"
MONSTER TRACK SUPERGROUP - "Adrienne"
SEVEN SOULS - "Sara" (2001, Local Music Flashback)
HAND MADE HOUSE - "Through You" (Across State Lines)
TIM WOODS - "Take a Minute"
FYRE - "Ghosts of the Stratosphere"
SHATTERED - "Love Hate Obsession"
ANATOMY OF THE SACRED - "The Woods"

The "Homegrown Rocker" was again in attendance during the 23rd annual Millennium Music Conference in Harrisburg this past weekend, so our next program will recap this year's conference! Listen to the Millennium Music Conference recap edition of the "Homegrown Rocker," Sunday night (March 3) at 8 p.m. on 105.9 Qwik-Rock on your FM radio dial, or stream it live online at www.1059qwikrock.com!

In Local Music News...

A memorial jam has been announced to help the family of Johnstown area musician Steve Forgas, who passed away in November. The Steve Forgas Memorial Jam will take place on Friday, March 22 at Slammin' Sam's in Johnstown. The event will begin at 8 p.m., and will feature the bands Octane, Kindred Fury and Blue Collar Fate. There will also be a basket giveaway. A $5 donation will be collected at the door.

We have a little more information about the forthcoming new album from guitarist Tom Brown's project Pensive Fear. Formerly a guitar player in 1980s-era Altoona-based heavy metal band Anaconda, Tom disclosed that at least four of Anaconda's songs will be resurrected and updated on the new Pensive Fear CD, which will be called Code Name: Anaconda, Order in the Strike. The Anaconda songs set to appear on the album include "From These Walls," "Fate of the Sinner," "Spinning of the Blades" and "The Pit." According to Tom, the new album should be out sometime before Halloween.
