Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the July 21 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week, we brought you the annual installment of our "Cover Song Special!" We heard how area bands and musicians interpret and translate musical creations by other (mostly famous) musicians, including possibly the most unusual cover of an Ozzy Osbourne classic ever played on this program! Along the way, we updated "Local Music News," dug a live 1997 cover of a Traffic classic by the U.S. House Band from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and stepped "Across State Lines" to hear that polka-fied rendition of Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train" from Lehigh Valley native Alex Meixner and his Florida-based Alex Meixner Band!

Here is this week's playlist (with covered band/artist in parentheses):

HOUR ONE:

ANDY MOWATT'S STEELY JAM - "Bodhisattva" (Steely Dan)
THE COMMONHEART - "I'm A Ram" (Al Green)

For our next program, we return to the mailboxes to check out new recordings that have arrived in recent weeks!
