Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the October 13 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

We welcomed a musical guest into our studio this week - White Witch and Monster Track Supergroup singer Jeff Pittinger returned to our program, and we discussed White Witch's brand new self-titled CD and Jeff's career. We played several songs from the album as well. Along the way, we debuted new tunes from Medusa's Disco and Private I, updated "Local Music News," dug a 1990 number from Philadelphia's Christillow from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

IRON WOLF - "The Hunt/Iron Wolf"
FYRE - "Ghosts of the Stratosphere"
WHITE WITCH - "Changes Coming"
MEDUSA'S DISCO - "Sizzle into Oblivion"
WHITE WITCH - "Running with Scissors"
EMBER'S FALL - "No Escape"
WHITE WITCH - "Paranoid" (live)

HOUR TWO:

SYNESTHESIA - "Sweet Rhapsody"
MONSTER TRACK SUPERGROUP - "Adrienne"
WHITE WITCH - "Slaughter in Salem"
PRIVATE I - "Faith in Humanity"
WHITE WITCH - "Log Splitter"
CHRISTILLOW - "Standing in the Rain" (1990/2016, Local Music Flashback)
WHITE WITCH - "The Seed"

Another visit with the mailboxes awaits us on our next program! We'll again check for new recordings that have arrived in recent weeks and debut some new local and regional music! We'll also update "Local Music News," dig a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, and step "Across State Lines" to hear music from an independent band or artist from outside PA! Listen to the "Homegrown Rocker," Sunday night (October 20) at 8 p.m. on 105.9 Qwik-Rock on your FM radio dial, or stream it live online at www.1059qwikrock.com!

In Local Music News...

The area and regional music scene mourned the unexpected death of a rising name last weekend. Dennis Ray Gee, Jr., the lead singer, guitarist and founding member of Tioga County-based metalcore rockers Ember’s Fall, died in a single-car accident near Tioga last Sunday morning (October 6). He was 31. Besides Ember’s Fall, Dennis also sang and played guitar in the group Swipe Right, and was a former member of the groups A Dawn Becoming and Disarming Adam. He also was the creative force behind the Canyon Music Festival. We at the “Homegrown Rocker” extend our sympathies to Dennis’ surviving family, friends and musical colleagues.

The Altoona chapter of Guitars For Vets, an organization that collects used guitars and guitar accessories for veterans dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), has announced a special fundraising and instrument collecting live music event to take place next month. The event will take place on Saturday, November 9, from noon to 9 p.m. at the Pinecroft location of Oak Spring Winery. The performer line-up will be announced soon. For more information, email Bill at pa.altoona@guitarsforvets.org.

Citing scheduling issues, guitarist James Forish announced that he is parting ways with Johnstown hard rockers Octane. The departure is a friendly one. The group’s former guitarist Kenny Murdick is returning to staff Octane’s guitar position.
