Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the November 17 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

We had a live band in the studio this week - thanks to area acoustic rockers Gray Beard for paying us a visit! We met the band members and learned their story, discussed their music and live show, and heard them perform a mix of six original and cover songs live on the air! Along the way, we debuted new songs from Jeff Mamett, Van Wagner and Medusa's Disco, updated "Local Music News," and dug a 2008 number by Shattered Ice from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

JIM DONOVAN & THE SUN KING WARRIORS - "You Are My Everything"
MATT OTIS & THE SOUND - "Blinds"
GRAY BEARD - "4 & 20 Blues" (performed live on the air)
BLACK CAT MOAN - "The Veil"
GRAY BEARD - "For What It's Worth" (performed live on the air)
JEFF MAMETT - "Spinnin' My Wheels"
GRAY BEARD - "Stray Cat Strut" (performed live on the air)
MYCENEA WORLEY - "That Is All (The Leaf Song)"
VAN WAGNER - "Remember My Chains"
MYSTERYTRAIN - "Down in the Mine" (live 2/17/19 at Sinking Valley Fairgrounds)

HOUR TWO:

RIK GOLDEN - "Something Else (In Mind)"
CHRIS BELL - "I'm Your Man"
GRAY BEARD - "There's Gonna Be Some Rockin'" (performed live on the air)
CONNER GILBERT - "Run Away"
GRAY BEARD - "Old Shot" (performed live on the air)
SHATTERED ICE - "Chills" (2008, Local Music Flashback)
GRAY BEARD - "Home" (performed live on the air)
DEREK WOODS BAND - "Much Better Now"
MEDUSA'S DISCO - "Knowledge"

We'll return to the mailboxes on our next program to check out new recordings that have arrived, and we'll debut new songs during the show - including new numbers from Anatomy Of The Sacred, Railroad City Murder Machines, Gallowglas and more! We'll also update "Local Music News," dig a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, step "Across State Lines" to explore a song from an independent band or artist from outside of PA, and review Conner Gilbert's Life in the Years CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!" Listen to the "Homegrown Rocker," Sunday night (November 24) at 8 p.m. on 105.9 Qwik-Rock on your FM radio dial, or stream it live online at www.1059qwikrock.com!

In Local Music News...

A new nonprofit organization formed in the Harrisburg area will be recognizing musical talent in central PA with its own regional answer to the Grammy Awards in late January. Formed in May, the Central Pennsylvania Music Hall Of Fame came together to acknowledge the achievements of musicians throughout central PA via the Hall Of Fame and an annual awards presentation. The inaugural Central Pennsylvania Music Awards (CPMA’s) and Hall Of Fame induction ceremony will take place on January 30 at the Whitaker Center in downtown Harrisburg. Awards will be presented in a number of musical categories, including rock, jazz, hip-hop, solo performers and more. For more information about the Central Pennsylvania Music Hall Of Fame, visit the website www.cpmhof.com.

After a 10-year run on area stages, R2B2 will be going their separate ways at year’s end. The group has announced that their New Year’s Eve show at Altoona’s Newburg Fire Association Social Hall will be their swan song performance.
