Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the August 30 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock (94.3 FM) in Altoona and Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via both stations' websites.

We again checked out more new recordings that have arrived in recent days, and debuted more new music! This time around, we introduced new songs from Dumm, Jae Smith, Joey Dalto, The Hook, Anthrophobia and Bigfoot's Ugly Mansion! We also updated "Local Music News," dug a 1994 tune by Pittsburgh's High Voltage from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a tune from southern New Jersey's Zenyth, and reviewed On The Brink's Visual Empathy CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

SKELL - "Everything's Fine"
BLOOD UNION - "A World Apart"
DUMM - "Lovely Lonely"
MY HERO ZERO - "Speakers"
JAE SMITH - "Miss Communication"
CHRIS RATTIE - "Prisoner 743"
JOEY DALTO - "Breathe Again"
ARTE TEDESCO - "Hurricane"
JONAH WHALE - "Hale to the King"
ABOVE THE RADAR - "Ride"
JOHN PEACEFIRE - "Hell in a Hand Basket"

HOUR TWO:

IRON WOLF - "The Hunt/Iron Wolf"
NEGAN - "The Devil's Coming"
THE HOOK - "Precipitate"
ON THE BRINK - "Send Pictures"
ANTHROPHOBIA - "Technical Difficulties"
HIGH VOLTAGE - "Fishin'" (1994, Local Music Flashback)
ZENYTH - "Paramour" (Across State Lines)
SILVER SCREEN - "Drugs"
BIGFOOT'S UGLY MANSION - "Jailbird"
CHIP & THE CHARGE-UPS - "Toxic Human"

For something special during our next program on Labor Day weekend, we present the 2020 installment of our "Local Music Live in Concert Special!" Here, every song we air will be a live performance track from an area band or artist! It will be two hours of live local concert and performance footage! Along the way, we will update "Local Music News" and dig a live performance "Local Music Flashback" from the archive! Hear the "Homegrown Rocker" this Sunday night (September 6) on Q94 Classic Rock (94.3 on your FM dial, or online at www.q94classicrock.com) and 105.9 Qwik Rock (105.9 on your FM dial, or online at www.1059qwikrock.com)!

Upcoming guests and specials:

SEPT. 20 - MALEENA
SEPT. 27 - DON HUGHES
OCTOBER 25 - HALLOWEEN SPECIAL

(All dates are subject to changes as circumstances warrant.)

In Local Music News...

The date and performers have been announced for the fifth annual Vets Fest event. Presented by the Vietnam Veterans of America Blair County Chapter, this year’s Vets Fest will happen on Sunday afternoon, September 13, outside at the Unter Uns Musical & Entertainment Society in Altoona. The music will start at 2 p.m., and performing will be the bands Skye 2.0, Flashbang, Oz, Flashpoint, Kickin,’ Ed N’Born and Anna Oberneder. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. All proceeds will assist veterans in need in Blair County.

The annual Cambria City Ethnic Festival, scheduled for Labor Day weekend in Johnstown’s Cambria City Neighborhood, has been cancelled for this year due to complications stemming from the coronavirus pandemic. One of the festival’s participating churches, St. Mary’s, will sell food and provide live music on both Friday and Saturday of Labor Day weekend.

In recording news, The Clarks are preparing to release their new album next month, and it is an album created as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The album, Live from the Livestream, will feature 13 songs recorded during The Clarks’ various live streaming performances during the COVID-19 shutdown this past spring. The album will be officially released on Friday, September 18.

And Bloomsburg-based rock artist Jonah Whale will release his new album in October. The album is called VI, and the expected release date for the CD is October 20.
