Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the November 22 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock!

Thanks to our guest via phone this week, northeastern PA-based rocker Jonah Whale (www.jonahwhale.com) for a fascinating two hours! We learned about Jonah and his career, and discussed and featured songs off his latest album, VI! And listeners had chances to enter an email drawing to win one of two USB box set download cards, featuring all six of Jonah's albums! Along the way, we debuted new songs from Tim Woods and William Rose, updated "Local Music News" and dug a 1987 tune from Pittsburgh's 18 Names from the archive for this week's "Local Music Flashback!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

CHRIS VIPOND & THE STANLEY STREET BAND - "Armchair Preachers"
SILVER SCREEN - "Labelled Off"
JONAH WHALE - "Let's Get Loud"
BLOOD UNION - "Lit"
JONAH WHALE - "Zero to Love (in a Heartbeat)"
TIM WOODS - "Ready"
JONAH WHALE - "She Moves Like the Wind"
CONNER GILBERT - "Run Away"

HOUR TWO:

WE CAME FROM SPACE - "Business as Usual"
DONNY BURNS & THE 3RD DEGREE - "Out of Dodge"
JONAH WHALE - "Raise Your Hands"
WILLIAM ROSE - "Telescope"
JONAH WHALE - "Pump It Up"
18 NAMES - "Never Say No" (1987, Local Music Flashback)
JONAH WHALE - "Nothin' Like This"
WHITE WITCH - "Running with Scissors"

For Thanksgiving weekend, we have something a little different planned for you - the first ever "Vinyl Vault Special!" Every tune we play on the program will be a tune recorded on vinyl by current and past bands and artists of the area music scene! We'll polish off the 45 rpm singles and 33 1/3-rpm albums from past bands and artists, but also hear current area bands and artists who have recorded albums and singles on vinyl records! We'll feature frequent "Local Music Flashback" numbers from the past, and we'll also review a recent vinyl album by Pittsburgh punk rockers Thunder Vest, as we take a look at their Next Round album in "The Professor's CD Corner!" Hear the "Homegrown Rocker' this Sunday night (November 29) on Q94 Classic Rock - 94.3 FM and online at www.q94classicrock.com!

Upcoming guests and specials:

DECEMBER 6 - BAD LUCK LOVER BOYS
DECEMBER 20 - CHRISTMAS SPECIAL
DECEMBER 27 - END OF YEAR SPECIAL
JANUARY 10 - COLTT WINTER LEPLEY
JANUARY 17 - SONGS ABOUT PENNSYLVANIA SPECIAL

(All dates are subject to changes as circumstances warrant.)

Bands and artists wanting to submit news items for "Local Music News" may email their news to homegrownrocker@gmail.com. Indicate "MUSIC NEWS" in the subject heading!

In Local Music News...

The area music and broadcasting communities were saddened by the recent passing of James “Big Jim” Ricotta, who died on Wednesday, November 11 at age 65 following a lengthy battle with cancer. Big Jim played bass, guitar keys and sang, and was a member of numerous area bands and projects over the past three decades, including Banditos, Penetrator, Half Tempted, Johnny Cash tribute group Ol' 97, Rokkandy, the Backyard Rockers, Snake Bite, and most recently with Second Edition. Big Jim also was an area radio announcer who worked at Q94 during the 1990s as well as other stations in the Blair and Clearfield County markets, and he was the former manager of the Altoona Coconuts Music & Movies store location. We at the “Homegrown Rocker” share our heartfelt sympathies with Jim's family and many friends throughout the area community and music scene.

Some original members of northern PA-based heavy metal group Embers Fall have formed a new project. The new band is called Return to Flame, and they will be creating original heavy metal music. They will enter the studio next month to begin recording vocal tracks for several new songs they are putting together.
