Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the May 23 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock!

This week we got back to the mailboxes to check out a few more new recordings that have arrived lately! We introduced new songs from Marshmellow Overcoat, The Jaded Lips, Lone Crow Rebellion, Andrew C. McLaughlin, Sommelier and Horehound. We also updated "Local Music News," dug a 1997 number by Freud's Sister from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and stepped "Across State Lines" to hear former Altoona radio personality Dan Grabill (Danny Gray) and his former Tampa, Florida-based band Diamond Gray! We also featured not one, but two editions of "The Professor's CD Corner," reviewing Memory Collector's Future Eyes album during the first hour, and Hanna Barakat's Siren album during the second hour! And with the sad news of the passing of area musician Rich Edmundson during the past week, we paid tribute to Rich with a set of his music to close out the first hour. (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94's website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on "The Professor's Classroom," and then scroll down to "Homegrown Rocker Podcast" and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 052321.)

A popular Pittsburgh area restaurant and live music venue was destroyed by fire last weekend. The Spaghetti and Steak House Restaurant, located along Route 22 in Murrysville, burned to the ground last Sunday morning (May 16). The restaurant housed the Hot Rod Lounge, which hosted live music. A cause for the fire has not yet been determined.

The area music scene was again hit with sad news this week, following the unexpected passing of Rich Edmundson on Tuesday (May 1Cool. He was 32. Since first surfacing at open mics and jam nights on the Altoona music scene a little over a decade ago, Rich became a popular solo performer, and frequently performed at various festivals, benefit shows and other community events.
