Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the July 25 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock!

This week, we welcomed our guest, area musician Sascha Frost! Sascha discussed his career and music, and we checked out music from his current solo project endeavor, Memory Collector. Sascha is also the organizer of the Mass N Tha Grass Music & Arts Festival, happening August 6-8 at the Sinking Valley Fairgrounds, and he previewed and gave us the scoop on all of the happenings for that weekend! We also spotlighted music from many of the performers taking part in Mass N Tha Grass! In addition, we updated "Local Music News," dug a 2009 number from the Steam City Riders from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and reviewed Dream Home's self-titled debut album in "The Professor's CD Corner!" (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94's website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on "The Professor's Classroom," and then scroll down to "Homegrown Rocker Podcast" and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 072521.)

We'll return to the mailboxes for our next program, and check out new recordings from the area music scene that have arrived in recent days! We'll debut lots of new songs along the way! We'll also dig into the archive to hear a tune from a past area band or artist for a "Local Music Flashback," step "Across State Lines" to hear music from an independent band or artist from outside the state, and review Almost Honest's Seiches and Sirens album in "The Professor's CD Corner!" In Local Music News...

Several benefit concerts are being scheduled to help a regional musician who is battling cancer. Chris Silvagni, who plays guitar for both Harpo and Sucker Punch, was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. An acoustic music benefit show for Chris took place July 24 at Hull’s Landing Restaurant & Lounge in Muncy. Two benefits will then happen on July 31; the first at Hull’s Landing, starting at 2 p.m., will feature the bands Gas House Alley, Red Velvet and Flu Shots. The second benefit that day then happens at the Valley Inn in Williamsport, and will feature the bands Leo & KG, Outrage, Sucker Punch, Ditch Driven, Last Rebels, 44 Mag, Betty Ford All Stars and Van Halen tribute Fair Warning. A motorcycle run will then take place the following day, August 1, ending at Susquehanna Valley Big Twins near Lock Haven, where the bands Cass & Crew, Voyager, Mumm’s the Word, August, Hairborne, Leadfoot, Red Wednesday, Mason Dixon and AC/DC tribute Halfway to Hell will perform. Donation at each benefit will be $10 per person, with proceeds going to the Chris Silvagni Foundation to help Chris in his cancer battle.

And the former Rex Theater in Pittsburgh will continue on as a live music venue under a new name. Ten months after shutting its doors due to financial hardships incurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, a new owner is taking over the Rex Theater with plans to reopen it in September under the new name Enclave. New owner Chris Firman, who previously owned the EDM nightclub Static on the Strip, is in the process of cosmetically cleaning up the room and having a new house system installed. Enclave has already announced a show with Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy, taking place on September 25.
