Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the September 19 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock!

We welcomed guests into the studio this week, as western PA's Tony Mollick returned to the program to update us on his recording endeavors, and enlighten listeners on his Allman Brothers tribute project, An Evening With... His bandmate in that effort, Crawdad Joe, was also in the house to discuss An Evening With..., his own self-named group, and the E-Train Music Festival, a live music fundraiser for the New Alexandria Fire Department happening near Homer City on September 25! In addition, we debuted a new song from Aron Elvis Honick, updated "Local Music News," dug into the archive for a 2005 number by Tony's previous band endeavor, the Tony Mollick Project, for this week's "Local Music Flashback," and reviewed Devin Sherman's Devin Sherman Does a Demo album in "The Professor's CD Corner!" (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94's website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on "The Professor's Classroom," and then scroll down to "Homegrown Rocker Podcast" and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 091921.)

In Local Music News...

Two popular area dance-rock and party bands have announced that they are no more. This Albatross announced this past week that they are closing the book after a nine-year run on area stages. And after five years of entertaining audiences throughout the region, Bedford-based Urban Myth also announced this past week that they are stepping away from live stages. The “Homegrown Rocker” wishes the members of both bands success on their future endeavors.

A young western PA-based singer " who once performed at Delgrosso's Amusement Park in Tipton " made her mark with a national television audience on NBC TV's program America's Got Talent. Nine-year-old opera singer Victoria Brinker from Latrobe advanced all the way into the top ten in Season 16 of the program, before being eliminated this past Wednesday night (Sept. 15) as she tried to crack the top five. As a 6-year-old, Victoria wowed a local audience in 2018 when she performed during the annual Italian Food & Heritage Festival at Delgrosso's Amusement Park.

And the area music scene is mourning the loss of another friend and member. Chris Hescox, longtime guitar player with the State College-based bands Spider Kelly and The Insomniacs, passed away on Tuesday (Sept. 14). We at the “Homegrown Rocker” extend our sympathies to Chris' family, friends, bandmates and colleagues in the State College music scene.

That's a look at “Local Music News.” Bands and artists with news items to report on the program may email their information to homegrownrocker@gmail.com.
