Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the March 6 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock!

This week, we welcomed Johnstown-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Christian James into our studio! Christian told us his story, and we discussed and explored his music with several recorded songs, plus Christian brought a guitar and performed one live for us as well! Along the way, we reviewed Brother Jack's Broken Banjo album in "The Professor's CD Corner," and after reporting the passing of popular Johnstown area musician David Single on "Local Music News," we celebrated his memory with two "Local Music Flashback" features. (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94's website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on "The Professor's Classroom," and then scroll down to "Homegrown Rocker Podcast" and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 030622.)

After a dozen years of entertaining area audiences with classic rock’n’roll, the band Cottonmouth announced that they are stepping away from area stages. In the announcement, the group left open the possibility of occasional reunion performances, as well as possible new band endeavors.

After a long search, young area rockers The Pines have found a lead singer. The group announced that Daman Mills is stepping aboard to handle lead vocal duties. The Pines previously performed as an instrumental trio.

Harrisburg heavy-rockers Steel have found their new lead singer. The group announced that Kyle Stuhler will take over the lead microphone, replacing former frontman Chris Redding, who left Steel recently. Kyle, also the singer for Ever Rise, will continue to sing for both bands.

The area music scene was saddened recently with the passing of Johnstown area musician David Single on February 21. He was 53. David was a talented multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, arranger and producer, and he was fluent in many styles of music. After attending Berklee College of Music, he played in various music situations along the East coast and in the Midwest for five years, before returning to Johnstown. David is best remembered for his tenures in popular Johnstown-based groups The Boys and Ribbon Grass, where he played keys and sang. David also recorded several CD's and cassette albums, including jazz and Christmas albums.
