Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the May 22 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock!

We were joined by guests again this week, as the members of Scranton area rockers Blind Choice joined us via phone! We met the members and learned the group's story, discussed their music, career and live show, and heard tracks from their latest EP, Silver Lining! We also debuted new songs from Don't Panic, Ted McCloskey and Teen Town, updated "Local Music News," dug a 2007 number by Pittsburgh's Punchline from the archive for this week's "Local Music Flashback," and reviewed String Machine's Hallelujah Hell Yeah album in "The Professor's CD Corner!" (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94's website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on "The Professor's Classroom," and then scroll down to "Homegrown Rocker Podcast" and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 052222.)

Here is this week's playlist:

Since we head toward Memorial Day weekend and remember the nation's military who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, we next present the annual "Homegrown Rocker" Memorial Day Special! We will take another trip down "Local Music Memory Lane," and hear tunes from past bands and artists! We'll pull local songs from vinyl, cassettes and reel tape, and every song we play will be from before the year 2000! Hear music from such groups as Badwrench, Nitro, Korruption, Xeno, Bashful, Slammer and many more! We will also remember some of the area musicians we have lost over the years as well. Hear the "Homegrown Rocker" this Sunday night (May 29) on Q94 Classic Rock - 94.3 FM and online at www.q94classicrock.com!

In Local Music News...

After ten years together, State College-based progressive and classic rock group Cone Of Silence has announced that they are parting ways to pursue personal commitments and other musical endeavors. The group's farewell performance will be at the Acres Of Music "Summer of Love" benefit show on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the State Theatre in downtown State College.

Semi-Supervillains issued a new live in the studio EP this past Friday. The Live at Trashman Studios EP was issued via online streaming media.

And there was sad news on the area music scene this past week with the passing of Johnstown jazz musician, artist and poet Frank Filia on Tuesday after a battle with cancer at age 86. An upright bass player, Frank spent much of his adult life as a musician in Las Vegas. He returned to Johnstown and performed regularly over two decades at Harrigan's Cafe & Wine Deck, the Venue of Merging Arts (VOMA) and at various other musical events in the Johnstown area. He was a popular musician, entertainer and personality.
