Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the June 19 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock!

As this Sunday was Father's Day, we presented the annual "Father's Day Special" edition of the "Homegrown Rocker!" We celebrated area music scene dads - as well as moms, sons, daughters, and area music scene family traditions! We aired songs spotlighting area dads, and often played them back-to-back with numbers featuring their sons and daughters! And in a few instances, we played songs that included both parents and kids - two generations of performers! We debuted new songs from Drew Schell with Raczar Lopatic and Tupelo (Donovan) and aired songs dedicated to fathers and mothers courtesy of Chris Bell and Fran Hite respectively! We also updated "Local Music News" and dug out a few "Local Music Flashback" tunes! (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94's website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on "The Professor's Classroom," and then scroll down to "Homegrown Rocker Podcast" and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 061922.)

In Local Music News...

Last week we reported about a fundraising cancer walk for former Huntingdon area drummer and percussion instructor Mark Morningstar. We now report some good news regarding Mark’s situation, as one of his former students has stepped forth to donate his liver to Mark. Shawn Campopinao, a former member of the Huntingdon Area High School Marching Cats and former student of Mark’s, was a match for a live-liver donation. Both Mark and Shawn will undergo their surgical procedure on July 21. It will take an expected 10 weeks for Mark to recover, and 4 weeks for Shawn. This past Tuesday (June 14), two other former students of Mark, Richard Kane and Jordan Canner, walked around Huntingdon to raise funds and awareness for Mark’s situation and liver transplants. They raised more than $5,000. Mark, the former drummer for 1980s area rockers Thin Ice and other projects, was diagnosed in December with Stage 3 liver cancer.

In new album news, Van Wagner recently released his new album, called Sing Out. Expect to hear a song from that album on next week’s “Homegrown Rocker.”
